Buying a Laptop for Medical School
Hi! I am a long time mac user but looking at these new surface books I am stumped. I am not sure if it makes sense to get a 15in or a 13in since I have a few monitors lying around but I do like studying in the library more than studying at home. I like the idea of having a 2in1 to take notes on and not need to carry around a separate tablet but I'm not sure how useful this would actually be once I start school. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for picking up a new computer? Does... Buying a Laptop for Medical School (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Would it be worth the investment to get a tablet for clinical rotations?
Hello! I hope this is the right forum to post this question. I'm wrapping up my 2nd year at WesternU VetMed with my 3rd year beginning our clinical rotations. I've been considering the idea of getting a portable tablet with pen capabilities to take with me while I travel instead of lugging around multiple paper notebooks or my main 17'' computer to the rotation. I've been looking at the Surface Go due to its small size to fit nicely in the white coat, acceptable processing, and being... Would it be worth the investment to get a tablet for clinical rotations? Leaving computer science for dentistry?
Hey everyone! Currently a freshman at UCSD, majoring in computer science. I've always struggled when people asked me what I wanted to do with my life. Medicine, finance, computer science all interest me. Never had any die-hard passion, but I've been always been open to the many possibilities. Ngl, one of my main motivations is money as I love investing and would like to get more capital to grow my portfolio. Lately, I've been kinda bogged down when thinking about the pathway for cs. Those... Leaving computer science for dentistry? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Obtaining a quantitative IAT score
Hoping someone on here can help! I am working on my thesis proposal and it’s an extension of my current research. I want to include implicit bias testing that provides a quantitative number for comparison. Ideally, it will be a measure I can administer via computer/online. I know about Harvard’s IAT but it doesn’t give you a “number” result and research I have looked at does. Before I try to randomly email authors in the hope one will respond, I thought I’d check here. I want to be able to... Obtaining a quantitative IAT score (Source: Student Doctor Network)

It is too late for me to switch this career choice
I will start pharmacy school this August. However, after following this forum I have realized that my chance of getting a job is extremely low and my debt will be >200k. But I am feeling stuck because I can't really switch to any other career especially not engineering since I can't handle Math and Physics well, not computer science or business or finance either because the only area I can study and enjoy is biological sciences, and I am already 25 and have a Bachelor's degree in biology I... Is anyone concerned about the influence of artificial intelligence on their career as a pathologist?
I'm not. I'm also not able to disclose exactly why, or who I work for, but I can say that I've developed an appreciation for the unique contextual visual recognition skills I've developed as a mediocre pathologist, while training deep learning algorithms as an undercompensated side hustle. I've never been able to beat the computer at chess. However, very good chess players still beat computers. Pathology residents seem to learn more quickly than deep learning algorithms. Volunteer Hour dilemma
Hey guys I am currently trying to put together my activity section for my med school app. For one of my clinical activities I volunteered for 180 hours. I recorded in my notebook my hour count in case something like this happened. Somehow the facility's computer only recorded me for 138 hours, as it seems like there was a problem with my login ID. I am very frustrated that something like this would happen as this place is quite a far commute for me and I have made the extra effort to... Volunteer Hour dilemma (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The Future of Medical Education
by IMNOTDRPHIL (Posted Sun Sep 16, 2018 1:27 am) The future of medical education is a giant topic. My situation is that I am 16 years past the applying to medical school stage that many of the forum visitors here are experiencing. I got accepted to the main medical school in my state, went through residency in family medicine (by choice as I wanted to " be a real doctor, " and now, boy do I regret it!), and have been in practice since graduating.I also know and routinely correspond with people who are well known in the educational policy community. I have not personally published work in that discipline, but have collaborat...
