Best computer for vet school?
I am looking to purchase a new device for vet school and there are so many options! I have heard good things about surface pros and iPads. I’ve always used OneNote, but people who have iPads seem to really love the different note taking apps they offer. If I were to get an iPad I would still need to purchase a laptop as well because the school advises against test taking on iPads. My old laptop is not reliable enough to continue using. I would love to hear what devices people like using! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

2023-2024 tcu
TCU does not employ a written secondary application, so there won't be any prompts posted here like we do for other schools. They read your primary application, screen for mission fit, and gradually invite selected applicants to their secondary application which in the past has been an online one, with audio-recorded answers to questions you can see on your computer screen. They have also asked in the past for applicants not to share specific questions, from the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Saving letters of recommendation?
So I'm planning on applying for schools this upcoming cycle, but I'm worried that if I don't get in this year, I will have to ask the my professor/boss/supervisor to send over my letters of recommendation again. In theory that wouldn't be a problem, but I'm concerned my letter will be lost in the void of my supervisor's computer by then. Anyone have ideas on how to store them for next year just in case? I know med students use Interfolio- I was thinking that even though Interfolio doesn't... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What should I consider when picking a location to take the DAT?
What criteria should I use to determine where I will take the DAT? I may be misinformed, but I heard that different testing centers have different rules, as in some let you erase your whiteboard and others do not, some have extremely laggy computers that add a dangerous amount of time to your exam and others do not, etc. How should I go about researching each testing center's quality according to whatever criteria you suggest? MD-PhD - Fears of GPA and previous Majors holding me back
Hello everyone! So I have changed majors quite a few times over my long years in college. I have switched from Network Security to Computer Science before finding my passion in Chemistry where I had earned my first degree. I was in the process of earning my PhD in Chemistry when COVID-19 hit and layoffs occurred (funding dried up and I can't work for free). As I was stuck in a location where I could not use my degree and could not afford to move thanks to student loans, I eventually found... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Working toward second degree while applying in 2024
So I withdrew my application last cycle after voiding my MCAT and plan to rework and improve my application for 2024. However at the end of last year I revisited my interest in computer programming that I've have since high school and enrolled in an intro course at my local cc and will be returning this fall to start working towards a second bachelors in computer science. I like that I'm able to continue working and progressing myself towards something that I like in the meantime while... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

If not podiatry, what else?
Ive Often thought about leaving for computer science which was my original major in undergrad. recently Though it looks like those types of jobs are experiencing lay offs and people are struggling to find work. other health professions have there pros and cons. The dental program that’s here at my school as well is 100k a year for tuition alone. No I’m not exaggerating. DO program is around 85K a year. so my question to everyone is if they had to choose a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much time do you spend on entering data?
Is this article accurate? More than half of my ER shift was spent on entering data. "Out of a total of 420 minutes, I calculated that I spent the following amount of time performing the following tasks: Seeing patients: 156 minutes Time on computer: 237 minutes" http://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2012/11/er-shift-spent-entering-data.html (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Computer Science and Medical School
I have a passion for both, but unfortunately no time (or the GPA) to do an MD/PhD. Are there any interesting career opportunities (that doesn't require a PhD) that might be present for someone with a masters in computer science and a medical degree? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Scribing while on crutches
I recently injured my hip and will have to be on crutches for a few weeks. I've been working as a scribe for 9 months and am really hoping to find a way to continue to do so while I'm injured. My boss is supportive and offered to make any accommodations I need to keep working, but I haven't thought of a solution yet as I spend most of my shift standing and walking while carrying my computer which wouldn't be possible since my hands will be full with the crutches. I also can't use a knee... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
