Automatic rejection by admissions algorithm?
When thousands apply to a school, surely the committee does not go through all of them...right? Do they use a computer algorithm that takes MCATs and GPAs to eliminate lower score applicants automatically? Only once they get through this "algorithm" can they be evaluated by human admission committees... right? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Seeking volunteers for a free telemedicine clinic for Coronavirus patients
We're a team of volunteers setting up a COVID-19 telemedicine clinic staffed by volunteer medical students, doctors, nurses, and retirees. This is to give healthcare providers on standby & in isolation a way to still provide services to the public. Patients in vulnerable communities (particularly uninsured people) will be able to get an instant video consultation from any phone or computer without needing to pay or install an app. The technology was built out over the last few days and is... Practice USMLE Tests, slow internet
Hello, I was wondering if the practice tests required a fast internet connection? Is it possible to download the test onto the computer, so I don't have to move to a noisy library to take the test? Thank you. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

States that consider veterans in-state for tuition purposes without gi bill (need post-bacc courses)
Hey fellow vets. As stated in the title, does anyone know states that will consider a veteran an in-state student for tuition purposes WITHOUT using the GI Bill? Like many of us here, I'm a career changer. I studied Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at the undergraduate level, and need a few health courses to be eligible for dental school. I'd prefer to save my GI Bill for dental school, as that is the better financial use of the entitlement. Has anyone else gone this route from a... WAMC - Non-Traditional Applicant
Hello everyone, I am applying this upcoming cycle and would love to get some insight into the process and get any advice anyone has for me going into the future. I am non-traditional applicant as my undergraduate studies (Computer Engineer) don't reflect directly into the degree that I am trying to pursue (DVM). I have had a strong passion for veterinary medicine since before entering college, but in order to put myself through vet school and as a backup in case I get rejected from the... Do doctors actually use their med school notes?
Hi guys, I am trying to figure out a notetaking system for school. I prefer handwriting notes as I learn more, but typing notes makes it easier to study in the future. Do doctors/residents actually use their med school or college notes? If so, is this usually on Ipads/computers/phones/notebooks and do you reference your notes while at the hospital or at home? Master's in computer engineering before or after med school?
Although my primary goal and passion is to go to med school and become a doctor, I also really want a master's degree in computer engineering. When I am a full-time practicing doctor, I plan to do computer related work on my own (self-employed) as a side job, and not work for any companies. I only want the graduate level training. Would it be better to get one before applying to med school or wait until I am a full-time practicing doctor? And assuming that I pursue a full-time master's... CS Major GPA for Med School
Hi! I'm a sophomore at Berkeley studying Neurobiology and Computer Science. My goal is to pursue an MD/PhD and my interest is in brain imaging using CS. Advise for thoughtful work related gifts for anesthesiologist?
Hi all, this may be an odd request, but I would like to get your thoughts on what might be something thoughtful your partner could give you as a gift that is related to your daily work needs. I am a computer scientist by training, working in management consulting now and I have very little insight into the ins and outs of an anesthesiologist's job, other than what my partner shares with me. I would like to surprise her without sounding to inquisitive or ruining the surprise, and all I have... Advise for thoughtful work related gifts for anesthesiologist? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
