Freshman Year GPA Anxiety
Hi all, this is my first post on the site and I wanted to get some input on my worries. I'm a freshman at ASU's honors college and almost all of my professors have posted final grades. For context, I started first semester in Computer Science and transferred to Bio sciences 2nd semester. Freshman year classes were intro programming, engineering, honors classes, psych 101, advanced compositional English, college algebra, pre-calc, and general biology. I know I'm finishing the year with a 3.86... Freshman Year GPA Anxiety (Source: Student Doctor Network)

BCPM gpa?
I've seen notes that "as a general rule, to determine how to categorize a course, you should consider what 60% or more of the course is based in." I'm a computer science major, and some of my computer science courses, like Discrete Mathematics and Fundamentals of Computing Theory, have been purely 100% 'math' courses. Can I then qualify these towards my bcpm GPA? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is the grass really greener?
On many forums a lot of pharmacists talk about how computer science, IT or engineering would have been a better career choice for them but they tend to forget that these fields have their shortcomings as well. The time and financial commitment to get IT/Engineering degrees are less when compared to pharmacy but they do not guarantee job stability either . I have engineer friends who find it difficult to get a stable job in IT/engineering.Most engineering jobs are contract based and you... Is the grass really greener? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ASA SimSTAT: Ripoff, or just a complete waste of time?
I can't emphasize strongly enough how bad the SimSTAT modules are. They fall into the classic "guess what I'm thinking" pattern of teaching, but with far less education than most. After plunking down a grand, you'll be faced with computer "games" that waste an hour on orientations and intro's before being put into a kludgy "simulation". As things deteriorate, you quickly realize that things you'd normally do are not available as options, and what you might do takes needed time with many... 26 year old engineer wanting to switch to medicine need some advice.
So to lay it all out, I'm 26-year-old engineer in Houston, TX who works at NASA. My job gives me a decent salary and free time, but I really don't like engineering, and working from home these last few weeks has made me realize I'd be miserable spending the rest of my life behind a computer. Medicine seems to fit my aptitude better, I like fixing things better than building them, I like working on a team, and I like helping people. However, it will be difficult for me to switch from... 26 year old engineer wanting to switch to medicine need some advice. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Computer suggestions for PT school
Hello everyone! I was recently accepted into a physical therapy program and I am looking to purchase a new laptop. 1) Can any current pt students, soon to be pt students tell me what computer they have and if they find it is the best for school? 2) I am used to my Mac but I am willing to try other options. Has anyone had a problem using a Mac during school (some people tell me they can't open all programs that the school uses)? 3) How much storage should I get? 4) What is the best way... Getting a masters degree in computer science between 2nd and 3rd year
Hi everyone, I'm starting med school in the fall. I am interested in getting a masters degree after the preclinical years. I was a computer science major in undergrad and want to learn more about an advanced topic (AI or information retrieval or distributed systems). I plan on integrated CS with medicine by either doing research or working in industry at a med tech company. My school doesn't have a combined MD/MS program so I would have to apply outside. What do you guys think? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Any PC Enthusiasts?
I know it may be off topic from Pharmacy. Just figured I'd ask around if anyone else. I haven't met any other pharmacists as passionate about computer gaming / video gaming as I am. I built 2-3 computers from before pharmacy school until now. I'm 31 years old and still use it as a great outlet from Pharmacy. Feel free to post your setup. Here's mine.
