Anyone applied with a letter from a computer science prof and got accepted?
I know the general rule of thumb is 2 letters from a bio-chem-phys profs, but did anyone get in with a letter from a comp science prof? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

W's before application
Hi, I would really appreciate your help on an issue. I am taking several classes as a postbac this semester and have A's in all but one class. Specifically, for this one class, we just had a midterm where I got a 51/100; roughly half the class (the class is 5 students) got around the same score. It is an online class where due to a computer issue during the exam, I had to rush through to finish which ended up significantly impacting my score. As I have not withdrawn in any class in over... 2021-2022 tcu
TCU/UNTHSC does not employ a written secondary application, so there won't be any prompts posted here like we do for other schools. They read your primary application, screen for mission fit, and gradually invite selected applicants to their secondary application which in the past has been an online one, with audio-recorded answers to questions you can see on your computer screen. They have also asked in the past for applicants not to share specific questions, from the secondary or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Thinking whether I should apply to medical schools next upcoming cycle
Hello everyone! I’m an international premed student. Non-traditional and currently taking post bacc classes part-time while working full-time at a health center as an analyst. I completed my bachelor’s in computer engineering from outside the United States with a 4.0 GPA but completed my master’s from a T10 university here in the States in Health Science Informatics with a 3.8 GPA. I’m planning to apply to medical schools in June 2022. Also planning to take the MCAT in May 2022 and hopefully... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Lost Non-traditional student
I'm 23 years old and graduated from undergrad with a bachelors in psychology in 2020. I have a 3.75 cgpa and a 3.6 sgpa, but my sgpa consists only of biology, general chemistry, math and a few other science classes like microbio and computer science classes. Also, I have one year of research experience as a research assistant in a psychology lab and I have been working as a covid tester for about a year now, so a little bit of clinical experience as well. However, since I decided to take... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mistake on Primary AACOMAs application
hey all any advice would be appreciated for this: I just noticed I made a mistake on my primary application for AACOMAs (it has already transmitted to schools and I have started receiving secondaries). Basically one of my experiences was an athletic team in college and under the employer section my computer must have autofilled because it says my name and information. Then under the supervisor section it says my name again but has all the correct contact information for my coach. I have... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How is clinical informatics research looked at?
I'm currently in a research lab that focuses on clinical informatics. The work is fine, but I'm concerned because this is 100% a computer science role and doesn't have anything to do with basic science. I've gotten conflicting opinions on if this matters or not, but personally I would like some exposure to basic science research for the sake of it anyway. That combined with the possibility that med schools will look at basic science more favorably makes me want to finish up my project here... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

NonTrad looking to do DIY PostBacc - advice?
Hi all, graduated 7 years ago with 2.78 BCPM and 2.95 cGPA. I recently started thinking of going back into medicine after working in software for a while. I don't feel fulfilled in my current role and medicine seems more doable now that I've matured. I double majored in Neuroscience and Computer Science in undergrad. Thinking of doing a DIY postbacc - don't think I need to redo any prereqs as I only got a C in Orgo 2 and C+ in Physics 2, so I will be just doing a bunch of higher level bio... Got sick, grades tanked, and I don't know what to do
In the second semester of freshman year and right before finals I got extremely ill and had to be hospitalized for 4 months. This resulted in me failing a class (a computer science course), and getting an incomplete in two classes (linear algebra and physics II). After I was hospitalized I was given a Picc line (feeding tube in my arm) until half of the first semester of sophomore year was over. Being the ******* that I am I didn't even consider doing medical leave, and I got a D in Orgo and... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Engineering to Dental Chances
Hey Y'all, I'll try to make this as short as possible. So, I always knew I wanted to do something in heatlh since I was in Middle school and after shadowing multiple Dentist in high school this became my career goal. After doing 1.5 years of prereqs my parents forced me to change my major to engineering (Computer Science). They were paying for everything so I guess they thought they should have control over what I study. As I'm getting close to graduating, I am expecting my overall gpa to be... Demotivated and looking for genuine advice
Hi! So I am a 27 year old who decided to pursue medicine in 2018. I graduated in 2016 with a degree in Computer Engineering. I majored in that for a multitude of reasons I wont bore you with but ultimately I never enjoyed my major and my GPA reflected that. I graduated with a 3.1 GPA and started working immediately as a software engineer in NYC. Fast forward to 2 years later I had been really considering going back to school to study medicine and after much thought decided to apply to the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Freaking out about interview?
So during one of my interviews over zoom my iMessage accidentally went off from my computer. I don’t know how to turn off my iMessage sound on my Mac book. It wasn’t my phone because it was off, but I am a little bit worried that that may have come off as rude. How do you think that will reflect on my interview? I’ve sent a letter of intent to the school already. It’s my top choice. I’m hoping they don’t think badly of me for this. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
