Computerized, in office, ADHD Testing

Asking this question on behalf of a pediatric colleague. " I've been using the original Quotient ADHD test in my office for the last ten years Quotient ADHD Test The Quotient ADHD Test objectively measures hyperactivity, impulsivity and inattention to aid assessment of ADHD. The test reports micro-motion and analyzes shifts in attention state, helping to engage patients and guardians in the treatment planning process. Unfortunately, the original Quotient test is being phased out and not reimbursed in favor of the new and much more expensive Quotient 2. The updated test is so expensive that... We examined the effects of ATX on behavior and hippocampal synaptic plasticity in the murine prenatal nicotine exposure (PNE) model of ADHD. ADHD symptoms were measured using behavioral tests, open field for hyperactivity and the Y-maze for spatial working memory. Further, ATX effects on long-term potentiation (LTP) in hippocampal slices at the CA3–CA1 synapse were assessed. PNE mice exhibited the behavioral deficits of ADHD, hyperactivity and spatial memory impairment. Intraperitoneal injection of ATX (2 mg/kg/day) normalized these behaviors significantly after 7 days. In PNE mice LTP was reduced (110.6 &plusm...

AbstractPremonitory urges are uncomfortable physical sensations preceding tics that occur in most individuals with a chronic tic disorder. The Premonitory Urge for Tics Scale (PUTS) is the most frequently used self-report measure to assess the severity of premonitory urges. We aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties of the PUTS in the largest sample size to date (n  =  656), in children aged 3–16 years, from the baseline measurement of the longitudinal European Multicenter Tics in Children Study (EMTICS). Our psychometric evaluation was done in three age-groups: children aged 3–7 y...

Conclusions: Based on this review, key clinical interview questions, behavior rating scales, symptom validity tests, and cognitive tests that have promise to enhance current assessment practices are recommended. These are the authors' personal opinions, not consensus standards, or guidelines promulgated by any organization. These measures are incorporated in a practical, somewhat abbreviated, battery that has the potential to improve clinicians' ability to diagnose adult ADHD. This study is a parallel-arm, randomised, placebo-controlled trial of OROS-MPH on ADHD symptoms, behaviour and functional outcomes in young male prisoners aged 16 –25, meeting Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition criteria for ADHD. Participants are randomised to 8 weeks of treatment with OROS-MPH or placebo, titrated over 5 weeks to balance ADHD symptom improvement against side effects. Two hundred participants will be recr uited with a 1:1 ratio of drug to placebo. The primary outcome is change in level of ADHD symptoms after 8 weeks of trial medication.DiscussionPotential bene...

Abstract One of the most common neurological disorder occurs among 1% of population worldwide is epilepsy. Therapeutic failure is common with epilepsy and nearly about 30% of patient fall in this category. Seizure suppression should not be the only goal while treating epilepsy but associated comorbidities which can further worsen the condition should also be considered. Treatment of such comorbidities like depression, anxiety, cognition, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and, various other disorder which co-exist with epilepsy or are caused due to epilepsy should also be treated. Novel targets or the existi...
