Time to Attain Full Enteral Feeds Among Preterm Fetal Growth Restricted Neonates With Absent/Reversed End-Diastolic Flow
CONCLUSION: Preterm FGR neonates with AREDF are slower to attain FEF, have more feed intolerance, higher mortality, need longer time to regain birth weight, prolonged NICU stay and hospital stay. AREDF, lower gestation, sepsis and thrombocytopenia at birth are significant predictors of delayed full feed attainment among preterm FGR neonates. It is essential to devise strategies to reduce morbidity and mortality among this group of preterm neonates.PMID:38469841 (Source: Indian Pediatrics)

Acetaminophen overdose causes a breach of the blood-bile barrier in mice but not in rats
In conclusion, different mechanisms cause cell death in rats and mice, whereby oxidative stress and a breach of the blood-bile barrier are seen only in mice. Since transient cholestasis also occurs in human patients with APAP overdose, mice are a clinically relevant species to study APAP hepatotoxicity but not rats.PMID:38466352 | DOI:10.1007/s00204-024-03705-6 (Source: Archives of Toxicology)

The anti-cholestatic effects of Coptis chinensis Franch. alone and combined with Tetradium ruticarpum (A. Jussieu) T. G. Hartley: dual effects on fecal metabolism and microbial diversity
Conclusion: CF dose influences its anti-cholestatic efficacy. The combination with TR had synergistic or antagonistic effects on the properties of CF, perhaps by altering fecal metabolism and fecal microbial homeostasis. (Source: Frontiers in Pharmacology)

HIV associated malignancies presenting as acute pancreatitis: a case series
CONCLUSION: Despite their rarity (< 4%), when HIV-positive patients with low CD4 count and cholestasis present with AP,tumours should be suspected and evaluated by cross sectional imaging and endoscopic ultrasound.PMID:38450696 (Source: South African Journal of Surgery)

The preventive effect of heat-killed Lactobacillus plantarum on male reproductive toxicity induced by cholestasis in rats
In conclusion, heat-killed L. plantarum supplementation protects against cholestasis-induced male reproductive dysfunction in rats, as evidenced by improvements in hormonal balance, sperm quality, oxidative stress, and inflammation.PMID:38452966 | DOI:10.1016/j.fct.2024.114571 (Source: Food and Chemical Toxicology)
