A rare case of a common hepatic duct stricture secondary to an anteriorly crossing right hepatic artery in an infant
Aureen D'Cunha, B S. S Ravi Kishore, Isaac Tharu VargheseJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons 2018 23(3):161-163 A 1-year-old male child presented with progressive jaundice. Investigations were suggestive of an obstructive pathology with a suspected choledochal cyst on imaging. Intraoperative cholangiogram demonstrated runoff of contrast from the cystic duct into the common bile duct with no opacification of the biliary system proximal to this. Intraoperatively, the right hepatic artery was found anteriorly crossing the common hepatic duct (CHD) causing extrinsic compression leading to complete obstr...

Correlation of Biliary Colic in the Absence of Cholelithiasis with Pancreaticobiliary Obstruction.
Abstract A small fraction of patients undergoing cholecystectomy for biliary colic are subsequently diagnosed with an obstructive pancreatic head mass. We review our experience with such patients to provide insight into improving evaluation before cholecystectomy. Retrospective chart review of patients undergoing cholecystectomy from 2004 to 2015 identified six patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy for biliary colic before being diagnosed with a pancreatic head neoplasm within six months after cholecystectomy. Charts were analyzed for presenting symptoms, evaluation before and after cholecyst...

Tu1420 INCREASED RISK OF PANCREATITIS AFTER ENDOSCOPIC RETROGRADE CHOLANGIOPANCREATOGRAPHY FOLLOWING A POSITIVE INTRAOPERATIVE CHOLANGIOGRAM: A SINGLE CENTER EXPERIENCE
Intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) has been increasingly used during cholecystectomy (CCY) for suspected bile duct stones. IOC can involve aggressively flushing the duct and using clearance devices such as Fogerty balloons, which could potentially increase the risk of stone impaction at the papilla, damage to the papilla, and inadvertent pancreatic duct injection. Failed clearance often leads to subsequent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The overall risk of post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP) has been studied, but the risk of PEP in patients who undergo ERCP following IOC has not been described. (Source: ...

Magnetic resonance cholangiogram patterns and clinical profiles of ketamine-related cholangiopathy in drug users
Recreational inhalation of ketamine is emerging as a major global social and health issue.1,2 Although ketamine, an N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor antagonist, has medical uses in anaesthesia and chronic pain control, its highly addictive nature has led to a massive increase in recreational consumption worldwide. Because of the ease of production and low cost, the non-medical use of ketamine is increasing especially in East and South-East Asia, with its lifetime prevalence in the general population ranging from 0.3% to 2.0%,3 comprising up to 39.7% of total recreational drugs users in these regions.
