Updates on Improving Imaging Modalities for Traumatic Brain Injury
J Integr Neurosci. 2023 Oct 23;22(6):142. doi: 10.31083/j.jin2206142.ABSTRACTThe Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that traumatic brain injury (TBI) was related to over 64,000 deaths in the United States in 2020, equating to more than 611 TBI-related hospitalizations and 176 TBI-related deaths per day. There are both long- and short-term sequelae involved with the pathophysiology of TBI that can range from mild to severe. Recently, more effort has been devoted to understanding the long-term consequences of TBI and how early detection of these injuries can prevent late clinical manifestations. Obtaining prop...

618 Does a best practice implementation prompting providers on syphilis screening guidelines impact physician adherence?
According to the 2021 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance report, the number of congenital syphilis (CS) cases increased 754.8% from 2012 to 2021. Missed opportunities for CS prevention in Texas include a lack of provider adherence to screening mandates. A best practice advisory (BPA) was implemented in the electronic medical record system (EMR) in an academic obstetrical center in Texas in April 2023 to prompt providers to screen pregnant patients at initiation of prenatal care, 28 weeks gestation, and admission for delivery. From prenatal care to spina bifida related mortality: The lifespan is marked by transitions experienced by increasing immigrant and international populations
J Pediatr Rehabil Med. 2023;16(4):581-582. doi: 10.3233/PRM-239020.ABSTRACTWhether it is for collaboration on folic acid fortification or the standardization of care efforts concerning neurogenic bowel dysfunction, a global forum on neural tube defects related issues is needed. Propitiously, the 2023 Spina Bifida World Congress sponsored by the Spina Bifida Association (SBA) was a catalyst for transnational dialog in the field of spina bifida (SB) research. Concurrently, the Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine (JPRM) provides a platform for both international research as well as numerous clinical and educational p...
