Two activities or one?
Hey all, I am apart of a program that’s related to cancer. The actual program is a summer camp where I will be a counselor, but prior to the camp it’s recommend each counselor raise money for both themselves and campers. Would the fundraising and camp be considered separate or part of the same activity? I am leaning towards separate because the fundraising is completely optional and counselors have to come up with their own unique way to gain the funds. What do you guys think? ChatGPT from OpenAI
Write a Christmas story about cancer patients, radiation oncologists, and preauthorization in the style of George Lucas. Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, there were cancer patients and radiation oncologists. The cancer patients were in need of radiation therapy, but they couldn't get it because their insurance company wouldn't authorize it. The radiation oncologists were trying their best to help the cancer patients, but they couldn't do anything without authorization from the... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Skin cancer path
How do your pathologists report out squamous cell cancer, particularly from head and neck? We get: 1) the fact that it is squamous 2) margins negative or positive Nothing else - no size, no PNI, no grade, no LVSI, no DOI. And, this is not the first place that does this. I have been at least 3 centers that report it out this way. What do your pathologists do? The CAP for squamous cell of the head and neck says all this should be reported out. Irrational Exuberance
Something very bizarre is happening with the job market. The main drivers of our little economy have not changed - number of ROs, number of cancer patients, number of fractions all within a FFS system. We are net positive on docs, net negative on number of patients, net negative on number of fractions and the reimbursement is going down. And yet, based on not just my perception, but talking to many PGY5s and people 1-2 years out - the market is on fire. Caveat - these are almost all... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

FDA approves 'SKOUT' - a new AI device to detect colon polyps
https://www.cancertherapyadvisor.com/home/cancer-topics/gastrointestinal-cancers/fda-clears-skout-to-detect-colorectal-polyps-in-real-time-during-colonoscopy/ Interesting article that leads to more questions: Does FDA approval mean gastroenterologists can bill more for using the device vs standard colonoscopy? If so, will insurance companies reimburse for it? And on the path end, does this mean receiving more or less colon biopsies if this becomes widely adopted? I could see...
