The Efficacy of Muscle Energy and Mulligan Mobilization Techniques for the Upper Extremities and Posture after Breast Cancer Surgery with Axillary Dissection: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusions: The Mulligan mobilization and muscle energy techniques have been found beneficial in improving the postural changes and shoulder outcomes after breast cancer surgery with axillary dissection. The superior effectiveness of the combined interventions points out the importance of integrating multiple therapeutic approaches for optimal outcomes. Regular examination and long-term follow-up assessment are important for studying the effect of rehabilitation interventions in people after the late stages of breast surgery.PMID:38398293 | DOI:10.3390/jcm13040980 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)

Efficacy of antibiotic prophylaxis for reducing capsular contracture in prosthesis-based breast surgery: a systemic review and meta-analysis
AbstractAntibiotics Prophylaxis to prevent capsular contracture in prosthesis-based breast surgery is common in clinical practice. However, there is currently a dearth of high-quality evidence concerning the effectiveness of antibiotic usage in this field. To identify all pertinent studies prior to January 2023, a comprehensive literature search was conducted in the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Medline databases. The extracted data was then subjected to meta-analysis. Fourteen studies were retained in the analysis. According to the results, perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis did not reduce the ri...

Time trends in real-world treatment patterns and survival in patients diagnosed with de novo HER2+  metastatic breast cancer: an analysis of the SONABRE registry
ConclusionThe prognosis of patients with de novo HER2  + ABC has improved considerably. Since 2013 one in four patients were alive and free from progression on first-given therapy for at least five years. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures in Breast Cancer Surgery
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe purpose of this narrative review is to provide a general overview of the patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) that are commonly used in oncological breast surgery.Recent FindingsWe found 11 PROMs in four different areas of breast cancer surgery, including quality of life, breast-conserving therapy, mastectomy, and postmastectomy breast reconstruction. These PROMs differed in the number of items and specific measures assessed.SummaryPROMs are essential in assessing the impact of the illness and treatment modalities from the breast cancer patient perspective. Numerous PROMs have been develop...

Omission of Breast Surgery in Exceptional Responders
Clin Breast Cancer. 2024 Feb 1:S1526-8209(24)00036-3. doi: 10.1016/j.clbc.2024.01.021. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBreast cancer management has transformed significantly over the last decades, primarily through the integration of neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST) and the evolving understanding of tumor biology, enabling more tailored treatment strategies. The aim of this review is to critically present the historical context and contemporary evidence surrounding the potential of omission of surgery post-NST, focusing on exceptional responders who have achieved a pathologic complete response (pCR). Identifying these exce...

Comparative Analysis of Lower Island Flap Transposition (LIFT) in Wise-Pattern Mastopexy: Does It Improve Upper Pole Fullness and Breast Harmony?
ConclusionImplementing the LIFT technique alongside the wise-pattern superior pedicle mastopexy decreases the occurrence of bottoming-out deformity after 1 year. Although there is no statistically significant difference, the LIFT flap technique has contributed to some extent to upper pole fullness.Level of Evidence VThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Treatment in Certified Breast Cancer Centers Improves Chances of Survival of Patients with Breast Cancer: Evidence Based on Health Care Data from the WiZen Study
CONCLUSIONS: Patients who are treated by an interdisciplinary team in a DKG-certified breast cancer had clear and statistically significantly better survival rates. Certification is therefore an effective means of improving the quality of care, and more patients should be treated in certified breast cancer centers.PMID:38344046 | PMC:PMC10853029 | DOI:10.1055/a-1869-1772 (Source: Geburtshilfe und Frauenheilkunde)
