Prognostic analysis of cT1-3N1M0 breast cancer patients who have responded to neoadjuvant therapy undergoing various axillary surgery and breast surgery based on propensity score matching and competitive risk model
ConclusionFor cN1+ breast cancer patients who respond positive to NAT, the optimal surgical approach is combining breast-conserving surgery (BCS) with SLNB. This procedure improves quality of life and long-term survival outcomes. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Optimizing surgical strategy in locally advanced breast cancer: a comparative analysis between preoperative MRI and postoperative pathology after neoadjuvant chemotherapy
ConclusionHER2  + and ER−/HER2− tumor subtypes showed clear correlation and agreement between preoperative MRI and postoperative pathological assessment of tumor size. This suggests that MRI evaluation could be a suitable predictor to guide the surgical approach. Conversely, correlation and agreement for E R + /HER2− and lobular tumors was poor, evidenced by a difference in tumor size of up to 5 cm. Hence, we demonstrate that histological tumor subtype should be taken into account when planning breast conserving surgery after NAC. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Pain Levels Following Cosmetic Breast Surgery and An Easy-To-Use Pain Treatment Algorithm for Plastic Surgeons
ConclusionsSubpectoral breast augmentation is associated with higher levels of postoperative pain compared to breast reduction and mastopexy. Effective postoperative pain prevention is crucial following aesthetic breast surgeries. It not only helps to reduce hospital stays but also aids in patient recovery, facilitates a quicker return to daily activities, and enhances patient satisfaction. To achieve this objective, it is advantageous to utilize a practical pain treatment algorithm that is readily applicable.Level of Evidence IIIThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 419: Dkk1 as a Prognostic Marker for Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in Breast Cancer Patients
Conclusions: In this study, we demonstrated for the first time that Dkk1 could be identified as an independent predictor of NACT response in BC patients, particularly those with TNBC. Further research with a multicentric expanded (pre-/post-therapy) sample set and better-defined populations in terms of molecular subtypes, therapy modality, and long-term follow-up is recommended to obtain more solid evidence. Adjuvant medial versus entire supraclavicular lymph node irradiation in high-risk early breast cancer (SUCLANODE): a protocol for a multicenter, randomized, open-label, phase 3 trial
Supraclavicular nodal (SCL) irradiation is commonly used for patients with high-risk breast cancer after breast surgery. The Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and European Society for Radiotherapy and On... (Source: BMC Cancer)

Breast cancer in pregnancy: concurrent cesarean section, nipple-sparing mastectomy, and immediate breast reconstruction —case report
ConclusionTo the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of concomitant cesarean delivery, PABC mastectomy, axillary dissection, and IBR. This surgical strategy allowed PABC treatment by the BC guideline, minimizing the newborn’s disadvantage and permitting, at the same time, the best final BR outcome. (Source: Frontiers in Oncology)

Breast surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with lobular carcinoma: surgical and oncologic outcome
ConclusionAlthough 33% of ILC breast cancer patients undergoing BCS after NAC required re-excision for positive resection margins, it is considered safe given that five-year RFS remained excellent and LRR and OS did not differ by extent of surgery. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)

Ruptured breast implant removal because of patient anxiety in the absence of breast implant-associated anaplastic large cell lymphoma
We report a case in which BIA-ALCL and breast cancer were not detected preoperatively, with subsequent removal of a ruptured breast implant. A 52-year-old woman had silicone breast implants on both sides for breast augmentation 15 years ago. Right axillary lymphadenopathy and intracapsular ruptures were noted by magnetic resonance imaging. Right axillary lymph node biopsy was performed at our department of breast surgery. Flow cytometry for BIA-ALCL was also performed using the exudate around the implant. The results were negative for breast cancer and BIA-ALCL. However, taking into consideration exacerbation of breast imp...

Immunohistochemical Evaluation of Perlecan (Heparan Sulphate Proteoglycan 2) Expression in Invasive Female Breast Carcinoma
CONCLUSION: Perlecan expression measured by immunohistochemical staining is associated with aggressive characteristics in breast cancer, suggesting that Perlecan may help in cancer progression and can be investigated as a possible target therapy.PMID:38156864 | DOI:10.31557/APJCP.2023.24.12.4277 (Source: Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention)
