Feasibility and Safety of Superomedial Pedicle for Breast Reduction in Geriatric Patients
CONCLUSION: Safety margins and satisfaction scores of superomedial pedicled breast reduction in geriatric patients seem similar to their younger counterparts. Furthermore, with similar complication rates and with its slightly higher 'Satisfaction with breasts' scores when compared to inferior pedicle, superomedial pedicled breast reduction technique can be utilized without reservation in geriatric candidates for breast reduction.LEVEL OF EVIDENCE IV: This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Reviewing Outcomes and Complications with the Use of Mesh in Breast Reduction Surgery
DiscussionThe use of mesh during reduction mammoplasty is a relatively modern innovation that does not appear to have a significantly different risk profile than that of traditional reduction procedures. There is limited cosmetic value based on currently available data. More objective future analysis is necessary in order to justify the use of mesh in reduction mammoplasty for its claimed cosmetic benefits.Level of Evidence IIIThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Liposuction-Only Breast Reduction: A Systematic Review of Outcomes
ConclusionMacromastia leads to a considerable health burden, especially in health-related costs. From the current evidence base, liposuction-only breast reduction appears to be a safe and effective procedure, especially in patients requiring a mild –moderate breast volume reduction and mild ptosis correction. More research is required, with standardised subjective and objective outcome measures, and longer follow-up periods to confirm the effectiveness and safety of this technique.Level of Evidence III This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Investigation of the Relationship of Functional Improvement and Body Mass Index in Breast Reduction Patients
ConclusionFunctional improvement was not related to body mass index in reduction mammoplasty patients. Functional benefits were observed similarly in both obese and non-obese patients. A precise threshold value for body weight, body mass index and amount of breast tissue could not be defined as an indication for functional reduction mammoplasty.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. The overexpression of cyclin D1 is a positive prognostic factor in advanced-stage breast carcinoma cases
CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that CDDN1 expression can be used as a potentially appropriate positive prognostic biomarker for advanced-stage BC cases.PMID:38328730 | PMC:PMC10846570 | DOI:10.14744/nci.2022.32657 (Source: Clinical Breast Cancer)
