Oncoplastic Reduction Mammoplasty: Systematic Review and proportional Meta-analysis of surgical outcomes
Breast-conserving surgery is the standard of care for early-stage breast cancer but can often result in unsatisfactory cosmetic outcomes. Oncoplastic surgery aims to address these issues by combining local excision with plastic surgery techniques to improve oncologic and aesthetic outcomes. By incorporating breast reduction techniques into cancer surgery, wider margins of excision can be achieved, leading to enhanced oncological safety and reduced recurrence rates without causing significant asymmetry. Routine drainage in reduction mammaplasty: is it necessary? a comparative study
Objective: Drains are often used in order to reduce seroma and hematoma occurrence. We compared our outcomes on the use of drains in breast reduction. We hypothesized that drains are not necessary for this procedure. (Source: Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery)

Primary care doctor's perception about the scope of plastic surgeons: A national survey
CONCLUSIONS: There is a clear underestimation of the role of plastic surgery in a wide range of conditions, which may lead to the downsizing of plastic surgery departments in the national health system. It is of utmost importance to educate primary care doctors so that patients are referred correctly and in a timely manner.PMID:37924719 | DOI:10.1016/j.bjps.2023.10.072 (Source: Hand Surgery)
