The Effect and Mechanism of Chinese Herbal Formula Sini Tang in Heart Failure after Myocardial Infarction in Rats.
Conclusions: The Chinese herbal formula SNT could improve left ventricular systolic function in heart failure after myocardial infarction in rats and decreased the level of Plasma Renin, Angiotensin II, and Aldosterone, as well as downregulating the protein and gene level of ACE and AT1R. Therefore, SNT has potential benefits of improving cardiac function by inhibiting the excessive activation of Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone system in heart failure after myocardial infarction in rats. Transient myocardial thickening in a Bartonella henselae–positive cat
Publication date: June 2018Source: Journal of Veterinary Cardiology, Volume 20, Issue 3Author(s): J.L. Joseph, E.M. Oxford, R.A. SantilliAbstractA 3-year-old castrated male domestic shorthair presented to the Cornell University Hospital for Animals for acute onset respiratory distress. Thoracic radiographs, echocardiogram, and electrocardiogram (ECG) revealed left-sided congestive heart failure, myocardial thickening with left atrial dilation, and sinus rhythm conducted with a left bundle branch block, respectively. Cardiac troponin I was elevated and continued to increase over 36 h (1.9 ng/mL, 3.1 ng/mL, and 3.5 ng/mL...

Herba Artemisiae Capillaris Extract Prevents the Development of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Nephropathy of Rat.
Authors: Geng J, Yu X, Liu C, Sun C, Guo M, Li Z, Jin Y, Zou Y, Yu J Abstract Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a major cause of end-stage renal disease throughout the world; until now there is no specific drug available. In this work, we use herba artemisiae capillaris extract (HACE) to alleviate renal fibrosis characterized by the excessive accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) in rats, aiming to investigate the protective effect of the HACE on DN. We found that the intragastric treatment of high-dose HACE could reverse the effect of streptozotocin not only to decrease the level of blood glucose and bloo...

Effect of benazepril and pimobendan on serum angiotensin ‐converting enzyme activity in dogs
In conclusion, 0.25–0.5 mg/kg benazepril administered BID produced noninferior inhibition of serum ACE activity compared to 0.5–1.0 mg/kg benazepril dosed SID. Pimobendan had no significant effect on benazepril's action on serum ACE activity. The results support the use of benazepril BID in dogs and in combination with pimobendan. 24 Danggui shaoyao powder improves diabetic nephropathy without altering blood glucose in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats
ConclusionThis study suggests that DSS could improve renal function in streptozotocin-induced DN model rats. The mechanism may be related to regulating the Th1/Th2 cell balance and improved lipid metabolism in DN rats.AcknowledgmentSupported by a project grant from The National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No. 81603527), Science and technology project of Henan Province (Grant No. 162102310466), Key scientific research projects of Henan Province Colleges and Universities (Grant No. 16A360010), Henan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Scientific and technological innovation talent support program (Grant...
