Ranula Decompression Using Stitch and Stab Method: The Aluko Technique
ConclusionThis stitch-and-stab technique for marsupialization has proven to be very successful. It is recommended for use by the general medical community, as it requires the Clinician to possess only minimal surgical skills. Bartholin ’s cyst can be so treated. Selective marginal resections in the management of aggressive angiomyxomas
ConclusionAA are rare tumors with a propensity for local recurrence. Atypical presentations of other perineal pathologies should prompt further investigation. Surgery should be reserved for symptomatic patients and is associated with low rates of morbidity. J. Surg. Oncol. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (Source: Journal of Surgical Oncology)

Superficial temporal artery pseudoaneurysm presenting as a growing, pulsatile, and tender mass.
CONCLUSIONS: STA pseudoaneurysms require a careful evaluation and a conclusive approach in order to avoid the risk of a growing mass and other nonremote complications such as bone erosions and bleeding. Different treatment options are available, including endovascular obliteration and embolization, however, surgical removal after ligation of the afferent and efferent segments of the vessel seem to be highly effective. Complication and recurrence rate in laser CO 2 versus traditional surgery in the treatment of Bartholin’s gland cyst
Conclusions The minimum rate of intra- and post-operative complications, the ability to perform it under local anesthesia in an outpatient setting make CO2 laser surgery more cost-effective than traditional surgery. (Source: Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics)

Constitutively active transforming growth factor β receptor 1 in the mouse ovary promotes tumorigenesis.
Authors: Gao Y, Vincent DF, Davis AJ, Sansom OJ, Bartholin L, Li Q Abstract Despite the well-established tumor suppressive role of TGFβ proteins, depletion of key TGFβ signaling components in the mouse ovary does not induce a growth advantage. To define the role of TGFβ signaling in ovarian tumorigenesis, we created a mouse model expressing a constitutively active TGFβ receptor 1 (TGFBR1) in ovarian somatic cells using conditional gain-of-function approach. Remarkably, these mice developed ovarian sex cord-stromal tumors with complete penetrance, leading to reproductive failure and mortality. The tumor...

Hidradenoma Papilliferum With Oncocytic Metaplasia: A Histopathological and Immunohistochemical Study
Abstract: Hidradenoma papilliferum is a benign cutaneous adnexal neoplasm, commonly occurring in the vulva and perianal region of adult women. It has characteristic histopathological features composed of anastomosing and branching tubules, lined by columnar cells, and a basal layer of myoepithelial cells. A 39-year-old woman was evaluated for 2 asymptomatic labial masses. The histopathological examination revealed a Bartholin's cyst and a hidradenoma papilliferum. The latter contains a distinct area of oncocytic/oxyphilic metaplasia. Immunohistochemical stains revealed positive staining for gross cystic disease fluid prote...

Transforming growth factor-β and Notch ligands act as opposing environmental cues in regulating the plasticity of type 3 innate lymphoid cells.
Abstract Group 3 innate lymphoid cells (ILC3s) are composed of subsets that are either positive or negative for the natural cytotoxicity receptor (NCR) NKp46 (encoded by Ncr1). ILC3s are located at mucosal sites, such as in the intestine and lung, where they are exposed to billions of commensal microbes and potentially harmful pathogens. Together with T cells, the various ILC3 subsets maintain the balance between homeostasis and immune activation. Through genetic mapping, we identified a previously uncharacterized subset of NCR(-) ILC3s in mice that transiently express Ncr1, demonstrating previously undesc...

Conjunctival mucinous adenocarcinoma in an ostrich (Struthio camelus)
Abstract A 2‐year‐old male ostrich (Struthio camelus) presented with a rapidly growing soft tissue mass protruding from the ventromedial aspect of the right eye (OD). The initial physical examination revealed a soft tissue mass attached to the medial inferior conjunctiva. The mass was excised with cryosurgery, and the conjunctival tissue margins were treated with cryoablation. Histopathological examination diagnosed granulomatous inflammation associated with scattered acid‐fast bacteria. The ostrich recovered uneventfully and appeared healthy until recurrence of a grossly similar mass 2 months later. Gross examinatio...
