Adenoid cystic carcinoma of Bartholin's gland, a case report with genomic data and literature review
We reported the case of a 31-year-old woman who was treated by local excision and then hemi-vulvectomy, with positive margins and perineural invasion. Radiation therapy (RT) was then performed delivering 45Gy in 25 fractions in bilateral inguinal lymph nodes and 64.8Gy in 36 fractions on the vulvar area. After 30 months, there was no local relapse (LR) but the patient presented a histologically documented lung recurrence. Genomic profiling of the tumor showed a MYB-NFIB fusion transcript and a somatic mutation of PLCG1. A treatment by Lenvatinib was started. We conducted a literature review of 100 published cases. Patients...

Challenges in management of Bartholin gland leiomyoma: A case report
Bartholin gland neoplasms are rare tumors, commonly misdiagnosed as Bartholin's cysts. Excision is the treatment of choice. Short time follow-up allows prompt management of potential postoperative complications. Continuing long-term follow-up is recommended due to recurrence risk. AbstractLeiomyomas are uncommon vulvar neoplasms often misdiagnosed as other Bartholin gland pathology. This case report describes a case of accelerating growth of a vulvar mass, initially diagnosed as Bartholin cyst. Surgical excision led to a histopathologic diagnosis of vulvar leiomyoma. The postoperative recovery was complicated by secondary ...

Prophylactic oophorectomy and aromatase inhibitors for premenopausal deep angiomyxoma: A case report and literature review
In conclusion, prophylactic oophorectomy and postoperative adjuvant therapy with aromatase inhibitors may be a promising treatment option for deep angiomyxoma to optimize the outcome of surgical treatment. Long-term follow-up is required to monitor for the late and/or local recurrence of deep angiomyxoma and possible adverse effects of adjuvant hormonal therapy.PMID:36561620 | PMC:PMC9748652 | DOI:10.3892/etm.2022.11702 (Source: Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine)

Transforming Growth Factor- β1 Regulates Peroxisomal Genes/Proteins via Smad Signaling in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Fibroblasts and Transgenic Mouse Models
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic human disease with persistent destruction of lung parenchyma. A pivotal role in the initiation and pathogenesis of IPF is played by transforming growth factor (TGF)- β1 signaling. As shown herein, TGF-β1 signaling down-regulates not only peroxisome biogenesis but also the metabolism of these organelles in human IPF fibroblasts. In accordance with the in vitro cell culture observations in human fibroblasts and human lung tissue, peroxisomal biogenesis and meta bolic proteins were significantly down-regulated in the lung of 1-month–old transgenic mice expressing a constit...

A Single Institution Cadaveric Study on Anatomical Variation of the Sublingual Gland Duct
This study is carried out by standardized dissection of anterior floor of mouth in 6 formalin-fixed adult cadavers in Silent Mentor Workshop University Malaya in August 2020. The cadavers had no trace of scars, adhesions, signs of trauma or operation. SMG duct opening was identified lateral to the lingual frenulum through a papilla in the floor of mouth behind the lower incisor tooth. A horizontal incision line was done over floor of mouth just lateral to the opening. SMG duct and SLG was traced and skeletonized. Any presence of major duct arising from the SLG and its communication with SMG duct were investigated. We found...
