Safety and feasibility of a novel total percutaneous post-closure technique after bedside Impella decannulation in patients with cardiogenic shock
CONCLUSIONS: Bedside post-closure using the Perclose ProGlide device is a safe and feasible alternative to manual compression and surgical removal of the Impella device with low bleeding or vascular complications rates.PMID:38335506 | DOI:10.25270/jic/23.00255 (Source: The Journal of Invasive Cardiology)

Angiogenesis in Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension: A Janus-Faced Player?
Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol. 2024 Feb 8. doi: 10.1161/ATVBAHA.123.319852. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTChronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare form of pulmonary hypertension characterized by the presence of organized thrombi that obstruct pulmonary arteries, ultimately leading to right heart failure and death. Among others, impaired angiogenesis and inflammatory thrombosis have been shown to contribute to the progression of CTEPH. In this review, we summarize the 2-faced nature of angiogenesis in both thrombus formation and resolution in the context of CTEPH and highlight the dual role of angioge...

Mechanical Thrombectomy for Aseptic, Atraumatic, Medically Refractory Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis: a  Systematic Review
ConclusionPredictors of poor outcomes with medical therapy predict poor outcomes with MT; these measures should not dictate candidacy. Complete recanalisation predicts favorable clinical and safety outcomes. Local chemolysis is safe, improves recanalisation, and should be recommended, provided there is no contraindication. Clot maceration strategies and stent-retriever thrombectomy are associated with superior clinical efficacy and safety endpoints, as compared with balloon angioplasty and rheolysis. Spontaneous hemodynamic improvement after balloon pulmonary angioplasty in patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension is observed within a short term after balloon pulmonary angioplasty
This study aimed to clarify the delayed changes in the hemodynamics after BPA in patients with CTEPH. We an alyzed 73 consecutive patients with CTEPH who underwent BPA between July 2014 and December 2022. We extracted and evaluated hemodynamic data of the right heart catheter without oxygen administration immediately before and after the first BPA; and immediately before the second BPA, as the “post-del ayed changes” after BPA. BPA significantly improved the mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP, mmHg) and pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR, dyn-s/cm5) from 36 (32 –43) mmHg and 449 (312–627) dyn-s/cm5 before the fir...

Balloon-mounting stent versus Balloon Angioplasty for intracranial arterial stenosis: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
Intracranial artery atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS) is a major cause of stroke, especially in Asian countries. Current treatment options, including balloon-mounted stent (BMS) and balloon angioplasty (BA), lack sufficient evidence to determine a preferred approach. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of BMS and BA in treating ICAS. (Source: Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases)

Usage of rotational atherectomy and drug-coated balloon angioplasty for isolated popliteal artery lesions: two-year results of a retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: Endovascular procedures using combined RA and DCB angioplasty seem to be effective alternative treatment modalities for the treatment of popliteal artery lesions with high rates of primary patency and freedom from TLR.PMID:38294176 | DOI:10.1080/00015458.2024.2313266 (Source: Acta Chirurgica Belgica)

Communication interventriculaire compliquant un infarctus de myocarde ant érieur : un cas de fermeture percutanée
CONCLUSION: Percutaneous closure has been emerged as a valid cost-effective alternative to surgery and should be advised. However, debate remains on the optimal preprocedural optimization, timing of repair and modality of treatment.PMID:38262253 | DOI:10.1016/j.ancard.2023.101718 (Source: Annales de Cardiologie et d'Angeiologie)
