Prevention of in-stent restenosis with drug-eluting balloons in patients with postirradiated carotid stenosis accepting percutaneous angioplasty and stenting
Conclusions We observed similar technical safety of carotid PTAS with and without DEBs. The number of cases of significant ISR were fewer and the degree of stenosis of ISR was less in primary DEB-PTAS of PIRCS than for conventional PTAS in the 12-month follow-up. Comparison of long-term outcome in patients with in-stent restenosis treated with intravascular lithotripsy or with modified balloon angioplasty
ConclusionIVL results in a significantly lower rate of residual stenosis than MB in patients with ISR. During the long-term follow-up, no differences in rates of cardiac death, AMI or TVR were observed.Graphical abstract (Source: Clinical Research in Cardiology)

Salvage treatment of forearm arteriovenous fistula with small caliber inflow distal artery by percutaneous transluminal angioplasty
CONCLUSION: Whole distal inflow arterial PTA is an effective and safe option for distal AVF salvage with a narrowed inflow artery, frequently refractory to conventional venous PTA.PMID:38087648 | DOI:10.1177/11297298231213670 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)

Comparison of endovascular therapies for chronic limb-threatening ischemia and claudication
Analysis of regional data from the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) suggested improved survival for patients undergoing stent placement compared to balloon angioplasty and atherectomy. Utilizing national data from VQI linked to Medicare-claims data through the Vascular Implant Surveillance and Interventional Outcomes Network (VISION) program, this study aimed to compare the rates of mortality, reintervention, and amputation after endovascular interventions (atherectomy, stenting, and balloon angioplasty) for two separate cohorts: chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) and claudication. Angioplasty for dysfunctional arteriovenous fistulas: A meta-analysis of recent randomized controlled trials compared paclitaxel-coated balloon versus conventional balloon angioplasty
CONCLUSION: DCB may be an alternative treatment of dysfunctional AVF given a trend of a higher rate of TLPP and a significantly lower rate of TLR than conventional balloon angioplasty within 6 months after the indexed procedure. Moreover, DCB was non-inferior to conventional balloon angioplasty in terms of safety. Considering variations in the DCB technique, further studies are warranted for a standardized process.PMID:38053229 | DOI:10.1177/11297298231213724 (Source: The Journal of Vascular Access)

Vasospasm in Pediatric Subarachnoid Hemorrhage
CNS Neurol Disord Drug Targets. 2023 Nov 27. doi: 10.2174/0118715273274147231104160152. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCerebral vasospasm (CV) is a common severe complication of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a severe type of intracranial bleeding that is uncommon in children. The purpose of this article is to review the current literature regarding this potentially devastating complication. CV may be asymptomatic and is less common in children compared to adults. Several molecular phenomena, including inflammatory ones, contribute to its pathophysiology. Better collateral circulation and higher cerebral blood flow are prot...
