Burr entrapment in a percutaneous coronary intervention during rotational atherectomy: An experience with 3195 cases
CONCLUSIONS: Burr entrapment occurred in 0.69% of patients who had undergone RA. Most burrs were extracted by a strong manual pullback. None required emergency surgery, and there were no in-hospital deaths. The results provide a treatment approach and prognosis for burr stuck in the use of RA.PMID:37984323 | DOI:10.25270/jic/23.00174 (Source: The Journal of Invasive Cardiology)

A case series of novel technique of coronary protection for patients with low coronary height undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation
CONCLUSION: Simultaneous kissing balloon is a novel technique of coronary protection in patients undergoing TAVI at high risk of CAO. Further studies are required to establish the safety of this novel technique.PMID:37983106 | DOI:10.25270/jic/23.00146 (Source: The Journal of Invasive Cardiology)

Percutaneous cervical sympathetic block to treat cerebral vasospasm and delayed cerebral ischemia: a review of the evidence
Delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) affects 30% of patients following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) and is a major driver of morbidity, mortality, and intensive care unit length of stay for these patients. DCI is strongly associated with cerebral arterial vasospasm, reduced cerebral blood flow and cerebral infarction. The current standard treatment with intravenous or intra-arterial calcium channel antagonist and balloon angioplasty or stent has limited efficacy. A simple treatment such as a cervical sympathetic block (CSB) may be an effective therapy but is not routinely performed to treat vasospasm/DCI. CSB consi...

Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension
Pneumologie. 2023 Nov;77(11):937-946. doi: 10.1055/a-2145-4807. Epub 2023 Nov 14.ABSTRACTChronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease (CTEPD) is an important late complication of acute pulmonary embolism, in which the thrombi transform into fibrous tissue, become integrated into the vessel wall, and lead to chronic obstructions. CTEPD is differentiated into cases without pulmonary hypertension (PH), characterized by a mean pulmonary arterial pressure up to 20 mmHg and a form with PH. Then, it is still referred to as chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH).When there is suspicion of CTEPH, initial diagnostic tests...
