IJERPH, Vol. 21, Pages 592: Negative Aspects of Self-Imposed Evacuation among Mothers of Small Children Following Japan & rsquo;s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident
This study clarified the negative aspects of the self-imposed evacuation of mothers of small children seeking to avoid radiation exposure from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station accident on 11 March 2011. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 27 mothers, employing open-ended inquiries based on an interview guide. Our analysis of their responses using the Ka-Wakita-Jiro (KJ) method categorized the results into eight distinct groups comprising 142 labels. These categories included continued anxiety about the health effects of radiation, differences in risk perception, changes in spousal relationships, the ina...

Pilot Study on Therapeutic Horticulture for Chronic Low Back Pain: A Mixed Methods Study
CONCLUSION: Patients presenting to an outpatient spine clinic may be receptive to trying TH in conjunction with or in place of conventional medicine to promote health and well-being. The pilot experimental group data suggested that acute TH is enjoyable and may confer the benefits of reducing anxiety and improving spine motion. Future larger studies could use different dose response approaches, explore different TH activity types and involve participants from different geographic locations while controlling for LBP history and psychological status.PMID:38702158 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)

Electric and magnetic field pollution in near substations and investigation of anxiety and depressive effects on adult individuals living in this area
In conclusion, there is no statistically convincing evidence of a relationship between EMF exposure and anxiety-depression (p > 0.05). This result shows that there may be more meaningful results in places with higher EMF levels. We interpreted the fact that exposure to electromagnetic fields does not cause anxiety and depression in individuals, as the measured values are below the limit values.PMID:38699873 | DOI:10.1080/15368378.2024.2348574 (Source: Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine)

Qualitative Study of Food Insecurity in Hospitalized Pediatric Patients during the COVID-19 Pandemic
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 pandemic impacted unemployment and poverty and consequently exacerbated FI. Our findings point to the need to focus on proximal societal solutions, such as federal policies aimed at food assistance and childcare. Understanding the challenges related to FI that caregivers and patients experience can improve screening, support, and treatment of patients presenting for care and inform the design of necessary interventions for individuals and communities beyond COVID-19.PMID:38701847 | PMC:PMC11073801 | DOI:10.14423/SMJ.0000000000001684 (Source: Southern Medical Journal)
