A Case of Vitiligo Combined with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Treated with Tofacitinib
This report presents a unique case of a vitiligo patient with concomitant systemic lupus erythematosus. Remarkably, after a 30-day course of treatment with tofacitinib, complete repigmentation of the white macular rash was achieved, and there were no adverse drug reactions. These findings provide compelling evidence for the efficacy and safety of oral JAK inhibitors, such as tofacitinib, in vitiligo treatment. Additionally, JAK inhibitors can yet be regarded as a promising new treatment option for vitiligo patients with concurrent autoimmune diseases.PMID:38524393 | PMC:PMC10961069 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S448535 (Source: Clini...

Alopecia Areata Treated with Homoeopathic Preparation of Phosphorus: Two Evidence-Based Case Reports
Homœopathic Links DOI: 10.1055/s-0043-1772489Alopecia areata (AA) is a type of non-scarring, autoimmune hair loss on the scalp or body characterised by solitary or multiple bald patches. In modern medicine, treatment is mainly in the form of corticosteroids. Homoeopathy provides a better response by framing the totality and choosing the medicine based on symptom similarity. The presented case reports evaluated the utility of individualised homoeopathic treatment on AA with evidence-based assessment. The two cases were prescribed individualised homoeopathic medicine and followed for more than 1 year. The cases were assesse...

Association between alopecia areata and allergic diseases: An All of Us database study
Several epidemiological studies have reported associations between alopecia areata (AA) and allergic diseases. This association may be linked to Type 2 inflammation contributing to AA pathophysiology, as suggested by a higher prevalence of atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, and asthma among AA individuals.1-5 Furthermore, epidemiologic evidence of AA patients experiencing seasonal relapses, comorbid atopic conditions, and elevated IgE levels may also indicate a shared immunological pathway with allergic diseases. Association between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism: a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization study
ConclusionThis MR study supports a bidirectional causal link between AA and hypothyroidism. Nevertheless, additional research is needed to gain a more thorough comprehension of the causal relationship between non-scarring alopecia and hypothyroidism. (Source: Frontiers in Endocrinology)

Upadacitinib for Alopecia Areata in Different Backgrounds: A Case Series
We report five patients with varying backgrounds and severity of alopecia areata. All of them had received conventional therapy without success. Five patients took Upadacitinib at a dose of 15 mg once daily, and all of them achieved satisfactory efficacy. No adverse events were observed during the treatment of 5 patients.PMID:38482177 | PMC:PMC10936532 | DOI:10.2147/CCID.S458592 (Source: Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology)
