Multi-strain probiotics ameliorates Alzheimer's-like cognitive impairment and pathological changes through the AKT/GSK-3 β pathway in senescence-accelerated mouse prone 8 mice
CONCLUSIONS: Multi-strain probiotics treatment can ameliorate cognitive impairment and pathological change in SAMP8 mice, including neural damage, Aβ and Tau pathology, and neuroinflammation. This effect is associated with the regulation of the phosphorylation of the AKT/GSK-3β pathway.PMID:38548184 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbi.2024.03.031 (Source: Brain, Behavior, and Immunity)

Efficacy of probiotic supplements in improving the symptoms of psychosis, anxiety, insomnia, and anorexia due to amphetamine and methamphetamine use: a randomized clinical trial
ConclusionsThe use of probiotics was associated with improved sleep quality, increased appetite, and increased body mass index in patients with chronic methamphetamine use. Conducting more definitive clinical trials with larger sample sizes and longer-term follow-up of cases is recommended. (Source: Psychopharmacology)

Anti-inflammatory effect of lignans from flaxseed after fermentation by lactiplantibacillus plantarum SCB0151 in vitro
AbstractLignan, a beneficial constituent of Flaxseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) showed great interest in researchers because of its multiple functional properties. Nonetheless, a challenge arises due to the glycosidic structure of lignans, which the gut epithelium cannot readily absorb. Therefore, we screened 18 strains ofLactiplantibacillus plantarum,Lacticaseibacillus  casei,Lactobacillus acidophilus,Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, Pediococcus pentosaceus, Pediococcus acidilactici, andEnterococcus durans to remove glycosides from flaxseed lignan extract enzymatically. Among our findings,Lactiplantibacillus plantarum SCB015...

Comparison of the targeted metabolomics and nutritional quality indices of the probiotic cheese enriched with microalgae
The objective of this study is to evaluate the influence of mixed L. acidophilus LA-5 and enrichment with microalgae (C. vulgaris and A. platensis) on metabolomic formation in a brined cheese matrix. Microbiological, compositional, and metabolomic characterization were investigated during the ripening. It was found that the nutritional quality indices of the samples were based on amino acid and fatty acid characterization. Fifty-six metabolomics including fatty acids, amino acids, organic acids, minerals, and vitamins were detected using the HPLC-DAD, GC-MS, and ICP-OES-based methods. The results indicated that the enrichm...

Superoxide-producing associates from gastrointestinal bacteria: stimulation of its growth by exogenous superoxide-producing complex from raspberries
Free Radic Res. 2024 Mar 1:1-14. doi: 10.1080/10715762.2024.2325940. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAerobic organisms including the gut microbiota have an essential antioxidant status, as a result of which these bacteria protect organisms from various pathologies and diseases. The goal of the given investigation is 1) the isolation and purification of the isoforms of endogenous О2--producing associate from gastrointestinal bacteria (Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum); 2) determination of the effective concentrations of exogenous О2- produced by a complex of NADPH-containing protei...
