PCOS is linked to increased risk of neuropsychiatric disorders in offspring

(European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology) Children born to mothers with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) are at greater risk of a wide range of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders, according to new research published in Human Reproduction. The study is the first to show links between PCOS and such a wide range of disorders, which include emotional and behavioural problems, delayed development, learning, speech and language problems, autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
