Increased functional connectivity between default mode network and visual network potentially correlates with duration of residual dizziness in patients with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
ConclusionThe occurrence of RD might be associated with increased FNC between DMN and VN, and the increased FNC between DMN and VN might potentially correlate with the duration of RD symptoms. In addition, we found BPPV patients with RD showed altered global meta-states and temporal features. These findings are helpful for us to better understand the underlying neural mechanisms of RD and potentially contribute to intervention development for BPPV patients with RD. Case report: Psychosis with catatonia in an adult man: a presentation of neurosarcoidosis
ConclusionsClinicians should consider organic causes when confronted with a middle-aged patient experiencing a first psychotic episode with an atypical onset, catatonic features, or dysfunction in orientation and/or memory, a complete lack of a positive familial psychiatric history and/or an atypical response to (psycho)pharmacological treatment. Altered parietal operculum cortex 2 functional connectivity in benign paroxysmal positional vertigo patients with residual dizziness: A resting-state fMRI study
CONCLUSION: BPPV patients with RD showed reduced FC between brain regions involved in vestibular processing and spatial cognition; These results suggested that BPPV patients with RD might have diminished central processing of vestibular information and impaired spatial cognition.PMID:38421104 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14570 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

Can head sway patterns differentiate between patients with Meniere ’s disease vs. peripheral vestibular hypofunction?
ConclusionWhile limited in numbers, Patients with MD had a high variability in head sway in all directions, and their average head sway was between controls and those with VH. A larger sample as well as patients with worse symptoms at time of testing could elucidate whether head sway via HMD could become a viable test in this population. A similar finding between 20- and 60-s scene and the full portability of the system with an in-clinic testing setup could help these future endeavors. Head sway derived from HMD is sensitive to VH and can be clinically useful as an outcome measure to evaluate sensory integration for postur...

Thyrolinguofacial trunk arising from the common carotid artery and diagnosed by computed tomography angiography
ConclusionThe presence of a common trunk of the external carotid artery (ECA) branches increases the risk of complications such as bleeding and ischemia during treatment of the head and neck region, including chemoradiotherapy for oral bleeding and tongue cancer. Therefore, this is an area of significant interest across various medical specialties, including surgery, otolaryngology, and radiology. Understanding the diverse variations in the neck vasculature is expected to lead to a reduction in complications associated with various procedures. (Source: Surgical and Radiologic Anatomy)

Impact of prodromal symptoms on the prognosis of patients with basilar artery occlusion treated with mechanical thrombectomy
CONCLUSION: More than one third of BAO patients treated with MT had prodromal symptoms, especially patients with large-artery atherosclerosis. Clinicians should systematically screen for prodromal symptoms given the poor related functional outcome and increased risk of early basilar artery reocclusion.PMID:38403919 | DOI:10.1177/23969873241234844 (Source: Atherosclerosis)
