The effectiveness of the modified Epley maneuver for the treatment of posterior semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
ConclusionThe modified Epley maneuver is more effective than the traditional Epley maneuver in improving the single repositioning success rate and reducing the canal switching rate for PC-BPPV. This study provides a new option for the treatment of BPPV. (Source: Frontiers in Neurology)

Prophylactic treatments for vestibular migraine: a systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials
Conclusion: VPA and flunarizine reduced the frequency of vertigo and improved DHI, but they had unfavorable tolerability. The effects of metoprolol on vertigo require further study. Given the low certainty and limited sample, additional head-to-head RCTs are warranted to further confirm efficacy.Systematic Review Registration:https://www.crd.york.ac.uk/PROSPERO/; Identifier CRD42023422258. Cerebellopontine angle tumor presenting as acute audiovestibular syndrome
CONCLUSION: Different symptomatic combinations of acute audiovestibular deficits may develop in patients with VS. Awareness about the possibility of VS as a cause of sudden HL, acute vertigo, and acute FNP, as well as subsequent IAC MRI scanning is vital to earlier diagnosis of VS in these patients.PMID:38108643 | DOI:10.1080/00016489.2023.2290202 (Source: Acta Oto-Laryngologica)

Vestibular compensation: Neural mechanisms and clinical implications for the treatment of vertigo
After unilateral peripheral vestibular lesions, the neural activity of neurons in the ipsi-lesional medial vestibular nucleus (ipsi-MVe) are markedly decreased, resulting in static and dynamic asymmetries of the vestibulo-ocular and vestibulo-spinal reflexes. Consequently, static vestibular symptoms such as spontaneous nystagmus and postural deviation and dynamic vestibular symptoms such as oscillopsia and swaying gait are induced. However, these behavioral asymmetries gradually recover after the lesion. (Source: Auris, Nasus, Larynx)

An Unexpected Presentation of a Maxillary Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in an Elderly Hispanic Patient
P R Health Sci J. 2023 Dec;42(4):328-331.ABSTRACTExtranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL), nasal type and aggressive NK cell leukemia are rare in Western World been less than 1% in USA to 8% in Asia among Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. It is aggressive, with poor outcome and optimal treatment is unclear. A combination therapy that includes Peg-Asparaginase (SMILE) has been employed in young patients. An 85-year-old Puerto Rican male presented with anorexia, epistaxis, vertigo and involuntary facial movements. He was treated with injectable Onabotulinum toxin A due to suspicion of a hemifacial spasm. However, a CT scan demonstrated ...
