Telemedicine during the COVID-19 epidemic improves outcomes in children with tuberous sclerosis complex: A 1206 visits retrospective cohort study
CONCLUSION: Telemedicine visits are almost as close in number as in-person visits. Younger patients, patients in remote areas, and mothers with higher education levels are more willing to complete telemedicine visits. Telemedicine visits were associated with a significantly lower number of emergency visits, hospitalizations, and AEs of sirolimus. Patients with more than 10 visits per year seemed to have better clinical outcomes.PMID:38031962 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14549 (Source: CNS Neuroscience and Therapeutics)

The endoscopic treatment of fourth ventricle outlet obstruction: Report of two children and systematic review
We report two cases of FVOO treated with ETV and review published similar cases. Clinical and radiological findings of two FVOO cases with outcomes after ETV were presented. Moreover, we conducted a systematic review after protocol registration in PROSPERO (CRD42021281474). MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science were searched from inception till December 31, 2022. Studies were included if they reported cases of FVOO treated initially with ETV. Cases with Chiari malformation, Dandy-Walker malformation, tuberous sclerosis, trapped fourth ventricle, or space-occupying lesions were excluded. Two reviewers independently ex...

Retinal hamartomas at different stages in a patient with tuberous sclerosis: A OCT ‐SS description
Key Clinical MessageRetinal astrocytic hamartoma (RAH) is a benign glial tumor that may be present in patients with tuberous sclerosis (TS), contributing to the diagnosis of this syndrome. While hamartomas identified through indirect ophthalmoscopy are often large enough to affect vessels and optic disc anatomy, RAH not detected in previous fundoscopies may become apparent in optical coherence tomography (OCT). The purpose of this report was to describe and characterize RAH with OCT with swept-source technology (OCT-SS), aiming to establish a more comprehensive classification for these hamartomas due to their diverse prese...

Radiologic and clinicopathologic features of eosinophilic solid and cystic renal cell carcinoma: report of two cases and review of literature
We describe two ESC RCC cases diagnosed at our institution. Both cases occurred in female patients, ages of 33 and 64, respectively. Both patients had no evidence of TSC and both lesions were found incidentally, by imaging studies, at an early stage. Macroscopic and microscopic findings in both neoplasms were classic. One case was analyzed by molecular testing and TSC2 gene mutation was detected. Both cases had focal positivity of CD10 and Cathepsin K by IHC. Both tumors were stage pT1a at diagnosis and the patients remained free of disease after resection. It has been proposed that TSC1/2 can be a molecular marker for ESC...
