Question About Practicums and Training for LCSW
Good morning everyone! I'm a high school art teacher, and I'm enrolling in an online program (part-time) to earn my MSW. It's mostly full-time working people in the program. I love my job teaching, and have no intention to stop teaching any time soon (so this isn't a dissatisfaction thing), but at some point we'll move (when my husband retires) and I'd like the flexibility of a few different career options. (And I've researched and the doors that a MSW opens appeal to me). I'm not worried... Question About Practicums and Training for LCSW (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does this work for Duke's secondary essay about self-identity?
Duke's secondary is tearing me to shreds. For the following prompt, I'm going to talk about my race and socioeconomic background. I also want to talk about how being a student is also part of my identity. like I've been a student basically my entire life, and throughout med school/residency I will continue to be a student. I'm hoping to also talk about how as I've grown older I'm slowly transitioning to becoming a teacher too. Basically this progression from student to teacher. Does this... Unsure on my non-science LOR PI strength
So my PI, who was also a teacher for one of my non-science classes, recently agreed to write a letter of recommendation. However, I remember when I wanted to do a thesis statement (cause I thought it'd help with med school) she mentioned strongly how medical school is very expensive, difficult to get into and how me doing research is a much safer route and one I should definitely consider. This reminds me of one post on SDN where their letter writer wrote a weak LOR on purpose as they wanted... Unsure on my non-science LOR PI strength (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pre-dental path for my Sophomore HS Daughter
Hi, My High School Sophomore daughter wants to be a dentist. She has A grades till now in Freshman year-dedicated, hard working kid taking the Physics,Calculus, Chemistry and Biology route in H.S. Trying to find the right Under-Grad College for her to study Biology with great teachers who will prepare her well for the DAT and a great Pre-Dental club or Study group and getting into a good Dental College. Why Parents Have To Send Their Kids To Summer Camp
by mindbuilderuae (Posted Thu Jul 04, 2019 6:29 am) Hello there,In a summer camp for kids, they experience time far from their parents. Such independent time is essential in supporting kids to develop a spirit of identity. Children learn to grow more self-reliant as they examine their concerns and identify their powers and flaws. They study to assume their inner voice rather than depending on parents or teachers to inform them what they've to do.Thanks, (Source: Med Student Guide)

Contacting High School English and History Teachers for PS Review?
Anyone ever try contacting their high school English and History teachers to help edit their personal statements? How did it go? Did they agree? Were their comments helpful? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What do you think?
I'm trying to get in an MD program this application cycle. URM. cGPA- 3.39 sGPA- 3.2, retaking MCAT in August. Over 1000 hours in a clinic with direct patient care as a BH coordinator, 500+ hours shadowing a Dermatology FNP. Volunteer/Leadership 500+ hours, LOR from organic chem teacher, genetics teacher, and the FNP. LOR very strong (includes family death, father's loss of job, previous self-harm). If I score well enough on the MCAT do I have a shot? My top choice is Meharry Medical... What do you think? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

When to take MCAT
I’m currently a rising junior with a subpar GPA due to extenuating family circumstances (wasn’t aware receiving a W was a thing so I was only able to receive It for 1 class when the teacher sympathized). Here are my current GPAS: Freshman 1: 3.65 (Had an incomplete in calc 1 and was scheduled to take the final at the end of my freshman year. Was unable to take It because of extenuating circumstances, so I settled for a B; A’s in gen chem/lab). Freshman 2: 2.85 (Life circumstances, about... NYU D1 Complete! AMA!
So since I have finished my first year here I guess I am open to any questions regarding the school! Also, a few ground rules and some rumors that need to be diminished: 1) No, they don't kick out the bottom 10% of students. 2) Yes, it is expensive; come here only someone is helping you with the living/eating situation (IMO), the burden of loan is heavy without that help. 3) Huge class, teachers can be hard to come by in terms of learning certain skills. However, you need to go out of... NYU D1 Complete! AMA! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Filling of capsules
Hello there! in our last Pharmaceutical Technology lab, we've prepared some capsules and our teacher told us that, obviously, only the capsule's body should be filled with the powder and not the cap. She said that this would produce a "space" and that space is necessary for the "swelling of the capsule"... what swelling is she talking about? I doubt her info is correct, could you guys please tell me why exactly we don't fill the cap as well? -Thanks! P.S.: sorry if this is not the right... LOR Confusion
What schools require a letter from a biology teacher or more than 2 professor letters?? I have strong letters from gen chem and Ochem professors coming, but Ik Bio will be pretty weak. I just asked my bio professor cause I saw a post on here a while ago where the kid needed 1 chem and 1 Bio LOR. Also, for anyone that’s been through the cycle before, does the application allow us to pick which LOR’s are sent to which schools? Or does it just send all of them to every school? Is med school studying textbook heavy?
So I'm a sophomore bio major right now and so far I really haven't had to do much textbook reading to do well in school. I read textbooks first semester but I realized it wasn't particularly an efficient use of time. I was just wondering is studying in medical school very textbook heavy? That's what I hear and I'm prepared to study with textbooks if it is, but I just wanted to ask real people about it. Back when I was in high school teachers told me up and down that undergrad would be... Is med school studying textbook heavy? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
