Careers with biology degree?
I'll be honest, I will never enter medical school. It's a bitter reality that I'm still trying to swallow. However, I'm almost done with my biology Bachelor's degree. I've forgotten a lot of the coursework since my last attendance, but I only have a few courses left till graduation. Life doesn't end with failed career goals. What are some realistic ways forward for a biology graduate? Being a biology teacher in a high school? Working in a biology lab (I hate labs)? Getting hired at a... Letters of Recommendation help
Hi, I’m making a school list and I’m seeing different schools require 2 science faculty letters while others ask for one. In your opinion, how strict are these rules/should I post on the specific schools subreddit? I have one letter from a science teacher, physician, and volunteer coordinator so I’m wondering is it even worth applying to these schools where I don’t meet the requirement for letters? Is there leniency? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

WAMC: 521 MCAT/3.3cGPA, 3.19sGPA Non-Trad (teacher) ORM Looking for help with school list
I am a first time MD applicant. English Major, Bio minor with the normal prereqs. I first took the MCAT in 2015 and scored 500. I applied to DO schools that cycle, didn’t get accepted. I then got a job teaching science, math, and English overseas (Thailand- I have family there) and have been a teacher there for 7 years. No one in my immediate fam speaks Thai, only my half-brother and niece, so I learned it while I was here. Fairly fluent (my spelling sucks) and use it volunteering. I was... Ohio State CMT vs Colorado
I’m hoping to go into academic pediatrics or medicine/pediatrics. Although I’m open to change, I worked as a public school teacher for six years as a prior career and would like to continue working primarily with that population and advocacy/policy efforts. Ohio State + Cost ($300K) + School Spirit/Tradition + Close to family/family currently attend OSU + P/F, 18 Months Pre-Clinical + Proximity to well-known residencies in the region (Cincy, Rainbow, Nationwide, Lurie, Michigan, UPMC... Advice on max CC credits (majority through dual enrollment)?
Hi everyone, I just wanted a bit of advice about a weird situation I have! Any advice would be appreciated. I went to an underserved high school where we only had 10 teachers and 9 classrooms with a very unique mission statement where we were pushed to take community college courses through dual enrollment and even had the opportunity to graduate with our Associate Degree concurrently with our high school diploma. We were built inside a community college for that purpose and had a strong... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Another Intern Hoping to Switch Specialties...=P
Hello everyone! I'm currently a PGY-1 FM intern in an unopposed academic setting FM residency program. I'm also in a track offered by the program to be trained as a FMOB throughout three years. I love my program, my co-residents, the faculty, the hospital, and attendings who are so caring about our education and are excellent teachers. I have to say I'm getting amazing FP training at my current program. However, I entered medicine wanting to be a Surgeon since I was in middle school. Over... Bad first semester - advice?
Freshman year microbiology major - I have an A+, A, or A- in everything except two, very heavily weighted classes: calc 1 and gen chem 1. Calc 1 I have a B in and for me, it's very conceptually hard to understand. The class basically consists of the teacher introducing a unit, doing 2-4 problems within said unit, asking if everyone understands, and then ending class. I've completely zoned out in class and have been self-studying, but don't feel I have a great grasp on the subject. I find... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Post-Acceptance W or F in Biochem
Hi all, I've been very fortunate to receive 2 DO acceptances and an MD II this early in the cycle. I'm currently in Biochemistry, and I'm struggling. The professor (the only professor who teaches Biochemistry at my university) is infamous for giving extremely difficult and time-consuming questions - I know we complain about hard professors, but he's almost universally acclaimed as a terrible teacher (multiple probations, very low RMP score, and just generally infamous at my university among...
