Asking preceptors to be a reference?
I'm several years out of pharmacy school now but have only held two jobs. I recently interviewed for a new job and they're now asking for references. I would prefer to not ask people at my current job for references for obvious reasons. The new employer specified it is okay to ask professors and teachers if you are a recent graduate. Do you think it would be okay to ask preceptors from several years ago? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Asking preceptors from 6 years ago to be a reference?
I'm 6 years out of pharmacy school now but have only held two jobs. I recently interviewed for a new job and they're now asking for references, two of which must be managers. I would prefer to not ask my current co-workers or manager to be references because I know they don't want me to leave and it would be awkward (especially if I end up not getting the job). The new employer specified it is okay to ask professors and teachers if you are a recent graduate. Do you think it would be okay to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can medical doctors teach courses at a community college as an adjunct?
I really love teaching and tutoring. It's a lot of fun to me, and all of my life, people have told me I should be a teacher, because I'm patient and good at explaining complicated things in simple ways. But I also love medicine and due to the stability and general awesomeness of being a doctor, I decided a long time ago to stick to this path! I've had a wonderful experience at the community college I attended, and I want to give back when I'm a doctor and help community college students... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Does a LOR from a microbiology lab professor count as one from a science professor?
I am a biology/philosophy major and have an LOR from two non-science teachers, a physician I worked with, my supervisor during my time as an RA, my A&P teacher, and my microbiology lab professor who I also worked with as a LA. It’s the last one I’m kind of worried about? I know schools require two LOR from science teachers and it seems like a dumb question but would the one from my micro lab teacher count for that? I wasn’t sure if it only pertained to lecture professors or if it depended on... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Did you get your PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fielding University? If so, was it worth it?
I am a mom of four kids. I was a teacher. I quit when I had kids. Now, like ten years later, I want pursue my PhD in psychology to fulfill my end goal of becoming a professor and/or having my own practice. I cannot drive to any of the schools in my southern california area because they all take 2 hours in traffic one-way and I am the main support for the kids. So. Fielding offers me the opportunity I need/want to do this. I can do the hybrid part in Santa Barbara or wherever else- I just... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

No interviews, how should I prepare for next cycle if I have to?
Hey everyone, I applied to 13 US schools and 6 Canadian schools this cycle (list at the bottom) and have so far received 4 rejections and 0 interviews. I know its not time to worry yet, but I like to plan for the worst case and start improving my app for next cycle. I definitely think my personal statement & secondaries might be lacking since I'm not the best writer but I tried to compensate by starting them early. I went through four reviews with multiple people (family/peers/teachers)... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
