Iliac artery endofibrosis: diagnostic dilemna and treatment options
CONCLUSION: Correct diagnosis is essential in the treatment of EIAE. A complete and multidisciplinary pathway should be followed to distinguish vascular from non-vascular causes. Correct lesion localization is crucial and besides CTA or MRA, more sophisticated techniques such as dynamic angiography or intravascular ultrasound might be needed.PMID:38693887 | DOI:10.1080/00015458.2024.2348234 (Source: Acta Chirurgica Belgica)

Effects of additional exercise therapy after a successful vascular intervention for people with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease
CONCLUSIONS: There is very uncertain evidence that additional exercise therapy after successful lower limb revascularisation may improve absolute maximal walking distance at the end of follow-up compared to standard care. Evidence is also very uncertain about the effects of exercise on pain-free walking distance, six-minute walk test distance, quality of life, ankle-brachial index, mortality, and reintervention rates. Although it is not possible to confirm the effectiveness of supervised exercise compared to standard care for all outcomes, studies did not report any harm to participants from this intervention after lower l...

Can boxing relieve symptoms of Parkinson's disease and improve quality of life? A qualitative study of the experiences of participants attending the Danish Parkinson boxing concept
CONCLUSIONS: The experienced impact of participating in PB relates to physical relief of symptoms and improved functioning in everyday life, as well as a mental lift, energy, and joy during and after training sessions. Participants described being motivated to attend PB and to continue their training practice. Thus, PB entails experiences of relief of symptoms and presumably improved quality of life for the participants.PMID:38695285 | DOI:10.1080/09638288.2024.2346238 (Source: Disability and Rehabilitation)

Cytarabine-induced peripheral neuropathy in a young patient with acute myeloid leukemia: a case report
CONCLUSION: Although rare, even a conventional dosage of cytarabine can cause peripheral neuropathy, and routine neuromuscular examinations can help in the early diagnosis and intervention to limit further progression and reverse the course of the disease.PMID:38694396 | PMC:PMC11060256 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001937 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

The effects of resistance exercise and leucine-enriched essential amino acid supplementation on muscle mass and physical function in post-gastrectomy patients: a pilot randomized controlled trial
Conclusion] We failed to detect a significant difference in muscle mass due to resistance exercise with LEAA supplementation in post-gastrectomy patients. However, resistance exercise with LEAA supplementation might be beneficial for muscle strength recovery and QOL improvements.PMID:38694013 | PMC:PMC11060767 | DOI:10.1589/jpts.36.218 (Source: Cancer Control)

Effect of a hypertensive response during exercise on growth rates of aortic diameters
CONCLUSION: In this large cohort study, maximum systolic and diastolic BP during exercise showed no association with growth rates of aortic diameters. Furthermore, the mean growth rates of aortic diameters in this population were in line with growth rates in a normal population.PMID:38693860 | DOI:10.1093/ajh/hpae050 (Source: American Journal of Hypertension)

The effect of a neck-specific exercise program on cervical kinesthesia for patients with chronic whiplash-associated disorders: a case-control study
Cervical kinesthesia is an important part of movement control and of great importance for daily function. Previous research on kinesthesia in whiplash-associated disorders (WAD) has focused on grades I-II. Mor... (Source: BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders)

Effect of Left Ventricular Diastolic Dysfunction on the Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test in Patients with Cardiovascular Disease
Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction is one of main pathophysiologies of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF)1. HFpEF is seen in around 50% of heart failure cases, is not related to sex, shows high multiple morbidities and a high proportion of non-cardiovascular death, in addition to cardiovascular death2. The high degree of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in chronic heart failure has been shown to be associated with a poor prognosis3. Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction is also present in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)4. (Source: The American Journal of Cardiology)

Lb-469807-01 impact of vigorous exercise in the long qt syndrome by genotype, age, and sex: data from the lifestyle and exercise in long qt syndrome registry (live-lqts)
In the multinational, NIH-funded, LIVE-LQTS, ventricular arrhythmia (VA) event rate was low in participants engaged in vigorous exercise and in the less active, in a largely appropriately-treated cohort. Genotype, age, and sex impact risk in LQTS, and triggers of VA differ. This analysis assesses if habitual vigorous exercise impacts VA risk and triggers differently, based on these features. Medical Therapy for Peripheral Artery Disease
AbstractPurpose of ReviewPatients with lower extremity peripheral artery disease (PAD) are at high risk for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and major adverse limb events (MALE). This manuscript will review the current evidence for medical therapy in patients with PAD according to different clinical features and the overall cardiovascular (CV) risk.Recent FindingsThe management of PAD encompasses non-pharmacologic strategies, including lifestyle modification such as smoking cessation, supervised exercise, Mediterranean diet and weight loss as well as pharmacologic interventions, particularly for high risk patient...

Relevance of Cardiovascular Exercise in Cancer and Cancer Therapy-Related Cardiac Dysfunction
AbstractPurpose of the ReviewCancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) has been identified as a threat to overall and cancer-related survival. Although aerobic exercise training (AET) has been shown to improve cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), the relationship between specific exercise regimens and cancer survival, heart failure development, and reduction of CTRCD is unclear. In this review, we discuss the impact of AET on molecular pathways and the current literature of sports in the field of cardio-oncology.Recent FindingsCardio-oncological exercise trials have focused on variations of AET intensity by using mode...
