Comparison of Pathologic Changes in the Maxillary Sinus Before and After Dental Implant Surgery Using Cone Beam Computed Tomography
CONCLUSION: This study showed that surgical procedures could have a direct effect on the sinus membrane and maxillary sinus. Both the implant procedure and surgical approach may have an effect on maxillary sinus pathology, as well as an increase or decrease of the pathology. Hence, further studies with a longer-term follow-up should be performed to better understand the correlation between implant surgery and pathology.PMID:38085742 | DOI:10.11607/jomi.10321 (Source: International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants)

Eosinophilic Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis Following COVID-19 Vaccination: A Case Report
J Korean Med Sci. 2023 Dec 11;38(48):e382. doi: 10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e382.ABSTRACTThe current emergence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and the possible side effects of COVID-19 mRNA vaccination remain worrisome. Few cases of vaccination-related side effects, such as vasculitis, have been reported. Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), also known as Churg-Strauss syndrome, is a type of vasculitis characterized by the histological richness of eosinophils, asthma, polyneuropathy, sinusitis, and skin or lung involvement. Here, we report the first case of new onset EGPA following COVID-19 va...

Reinke ’s Edema and Risk Factors, A Case-Control Study
This study also confirmed the hazardous effects of smoking and inhaling opiates in the formation of lesions of the pharynx and larynx. In par ticular, longer use of these substances will be associated with more serious side effects. Therefore, it seems that people who are addicted to opiates should undergo periodic visits and counseling to reduce and stop their use. Hypoxia ‐induced cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator dysfunction is a universal mechanism underlying reduced mucociliary transport in sinusitis
ConclusionHypoxia induces severe CFTR dysfunction via free radical production causing reduced MCT in vitro and in vivo. Improved oxygenation is critical to reducing the impact of persistent mucociliary dysfunction. (Source: International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology)
