Reversal of rocuronium induced neuromuscular block with sugammadex in patients under 2 years of age. A series of 280 cases
This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sugammadex for reversing deep rocuronium-induced neuromuscular blockade in children under two years of age.METHODS: Pediatric patients younger than two years of age who underwent neurosurgery under sevoflurane anesthesia were included in the study. Neuromuscular block was achieved by the administration of rocuronium. It was antagonized by the administration of 5 mg/kg sugammadex and evaluated using train-of-four (TOF). Primary outcome measure was the time from sugammadex administration to return of the TOF ratio to 0,9. Postoperative adverse events were also recorded....

SESN2 attenuates sevoflurane-induced cognitive impairment and neuroinflammation in rats
Exp Brain Res. 2023 Dec 21. doi: 10.1007/s00221-023-06757-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLong-term use of sevoflurane, an inhalation anesthetic, could negatively impact cognitive function. Current studies have suggested that cognitive impairment induced by sevoflurane may be associated with neuroinflammation. Sestrin2 (SESN2), which belongs to a family of stress-inducible genes, has been reported to exert neuroprotective effects against brain injury. However, its role and underlying mechanisms in sevoflurane-induced cognitive dysfunction in aged rats remain unknown. A sevoflurane-induced aging rat injury model with or wi...

Sevoflurane Confers Protection Against the Malignant Phenotypes of Lung Cancer Cells via the microRNA-153-3p/HIF1 α/KDM2B Axis
Biochem Genet. 2023 Dec 21. doi: 10.1007/s10528-023-10607-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSevoflurane is shown to curtail lung cancer (LC) development. Herein, this research sought to investigate the underlying mechanism of sevoflurane in regard to its repressive effects on LC. Expression levels of microRNA (miR)-153-3p, HIF1α, and KDM2B in LC tissues and cells were determined with qRT-PCR. Following sevoflurane pretreatment and/or ectopic expression and knockdown experiments, the malignant phenotypes, and levels of miR-153-3p, HIF1α, and KDM2B in LC A549 cells were detected using Transwell, scratch, EdU, CCK-8, Western...
