Insomnia Burden among Informal Caregivers of Hospitalized Lung Cancer Patients and Its Influencing Factors
CONCLUSION: Of the hospitalized patients with lung cancer, 51.9% experienced insomnia. Patients' ADL, ICs gender, alcohol consumption, underlying medical conditions, caregiving duration, and monthly expenses were influencing factors. Therefore, prompt screening and early intervention for ICs of patients with lung cancer is necessary.PMID:37711083 | DOI:10.3967/bes2023.099

CT-based non-invasive identification of the most common gene mutation status in patients with non-small cell lung cancer
CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates the potential of radiomics in the non-invasive identification of EGFR and KRAS mutation status, which may guide patients with non-small cell lung cancer to choose the most appropriate personalized treatment. This method can be used when biopsy will bring unacceptable risk to patients with NSCLC.PMID:37706584 | DOI:10.1002/mp.16744

Plasma extracellular vesicle long RNAs predict response to neoadjuvant immunotherapy and survival in patients with non-small cell lung cancer
Pharmacol Res. 2023 Sep 12:106921. doi: 10.1016/j.phrs.2023.106921. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNeoadjuvant immunotherapy has brought new hope for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, limited by the lack of clinically feasible markers, it is still difficult to select NSCLC patients who respond well and to predict patients' clinical outcomes before the treatment. Before the treatment, we isolated plasma extracellular vesicles (EVs) from three cohorts (discovery, training and validation) of 78 NSCLC patients treated with neoadjuvant immunotherapy. To identify differentially-expressed EV long RNAs (exL...

Immune Activation Effects at Different Irradiated Sites and Optimal Timing of Radioimmunotherapy in Patients with Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer: a Real-World Analysis
CONCLUSION: Our findings suggest that compared to other organs, the strongest immune activation effect occurs with brain RT, and ES-SCLC patients who received radioimmunotherapy (RIT) earlier achieved higher OS rates.PMID:37710179 | PMC:PMC10503112 | DOI:10.1186/s12575-023-00217-y

Outcome of conventional radiotherapy in small centrally located tumours or lymph nodes: minimal toxicity, remarkable survival but challenging loco-regional control
CONCLUSION: Conventional RT for patients with small central lung tumours or solitary lymph nodes is feasible. Median OS was 51 months, and toxicity was low with no grade 4-5 events.PMID:37707506 | DOI:10.1080/0284186X.2023.2257872

Platinum(II) boron-dipyrromethene complex for cellular imaging and mitochondria-targeted photodynamic therapy in red light
Chem Asian J. 2023 Sep 14:e202300667. doi: 10.1002/asia.202300667. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCisplatin-derived platinum(II) complexes [Pt(NH3)2(pacac)](NO3) (1, DPP-Pt) and [Pt(NH3)2(Acac-RB)](NO3) (2, Acacplatin-RB), where Hpacac is 1,3-diphenyl-1,3-propanedione and HAcac-RB is a red-light active distyryl-BODIPY-appended acetylacetone ligand, are prepared, characterized and their photodynamic therapy (PDT) activity studied (RB abbreviated for red-light BODIPY). Complex 2 displayed an intense absorption band at λ = 652 nm (ε = 7.6 × 104 M-1 cm-1) and 601 nm (ε = 3.1 × 104 M-1 cm-1 ) in 1:1 DMSO-DPBS (Dulbecco's Ph...

Integration and deconvolution methodology deciphering prognosis-related signatures in lung adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: The constructed risk prediction model in this study offers clinicians a valuable tool for tailoring treatment strategies of LUAD and provides a comprehensive interpretation on the biological activities of PRGs in LUAD.PMID:37710052 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05403-9

Lung immune prognostic index ‑based nomogram for recurrence of hepatocellular carcinoma after postoperative adjuvant TACE
CONCLUSION: Preoperative LIPI might be a powerful predictor for RFS in HCC patients received PA-TACE. The LIPI-based nomogram could further effectively predict the risk of recurrence and help clinicians formulate personalized follow-up strategies and adjuvant therapy to improve patient outcomes.PMID:37707573 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05413-7

Pain-related stigma in patients with breast, colon, prostate or lung cancer : Results of a bicentric register-based cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Our findings support the assumption that the experience of pain can have an impact on the perceived stigmatization of cancer patients. Depression might influence the perceived stigmatization. Therefore, this group of patients should receive special attention and psycho-oncological care in clinical practice. Further research on the course and mechanisms of action of pain-related perceived stigmatization is also required.PMID:37710022 | DOI:10.1007/s00482-023-00752-3

Construction of a Diagnostic Model for Small Cell Lung Cancer Combining Metabolomics and Integrated Machine Learning
CONCLUSION: This study is the first to analyze the difference between metabolomics and lipidomics and to construct a d-model to detect SCLC using integrated machine learning. This study may be of great significance for the screening and early diagnosis of SCLC patients.PMID:37706531 | DOI:10.1093/oncolo/oyad261
