Proteomic landscape of primary and metastatic brain tumors for heterogeneity discovery
CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: We characterized an extensive proteomic landscape of BrMs and gliomas. These findings have promising implications for the development of targeted therapies for BrMs and gliomas.PMID:37726528 | DOI:10.1002/prca.202300010

Distinct Features of Plasma Ultrashort Single-Stranded Cell-Free DNA as Biomarkers for Lung Cancer Detection
CONCLUSIONS: These observations indicate that the distinct biological processes of uscfDNA and that FE peaks, fragmentomics, end-motifs, and G-Quad signatures are uscfDNA features with promising biomarker potential. These findings further justify its exploration as a distinct class of biomarker to augment pre-existing liquid biopsy approaches.PMID:37725931 | DOI:10.1093/clinchem/hvad131

Entinostat enhances the efficacy of chemotherapy in small cell lung cancer through S-phase arrest and decreased base excision repair
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, we decipher the molecular processes behind synergistic interactions between chemotherapy and HDAC inhibition. Moreover, we report novel mechanisms to overcome drug resistance in SCLC, which may be relevant to increase the therapeutic success.PMID:37725585 | DOI:10.1158/1078-0432.CCR-23-1795

Lobar or sublobar resection for early-stage second primary lung cancer  ≤ 3 cm in size: a SEER population-based study
CONCLUSION: The OS of sublobar resection was not significantly different from that of lobar resection for early-stage SPLC. For SPLC with a 2-3 cm tumor size, lobar resection is more advantageous than sublobar resection.PMID:37725243 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05396-5

SLC12A8 mediates TKI resistance in EGFR-mutant lung cancer via PDK1/AKT axis
CONCLUSION: SLC12A8 mediates TKI resistance in EGFR-mutant lung cancer via PDK1/AKT axis. These findings not only advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms driving TKI resistance, but also offer novel alternative strategies for the treatment of lung cancer.PMID:37725242 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05416-4

Nomogram based on clinical characteristics and radiological features for the preoperative prediction of spread through air spaces in patients with clinical stage IA non-small cell lung cancer: a multicenter study
CONCLUSION: The nomogram created in this study, based on clinical characteristics and radiological features, has a high diagnostic efficiency for predicting the STAS status in patients with clinical stage IA NSCLC and may support the creation of personalized treatment strategies before surgery.PMID:37724737 | DOI:10.4274/dir.2023.232404

LncRNA AP000695.2 promotes glycolysis of lung adenocarcinoma via the miR-335-3p/TEAD1 axis
This study aims to verify and explore the mechanism of AP000695.2 in glycolysis of LUAD. Overexpression plasmid and siRNA are used to construct cell models of upregulation and downregulation of AP000695.2, respectively. AP000695.2 is highly expressed in lung cancer cell lines as revealed by qPCR. Western blot analysis, FDG uptake, lactate production assay and ECAR determination results show that high expression of AP000695.2 facilitates glycolysis of LUAD cells. CCK-8, EdU staining, Transwell and wound healing assays show that high expression of AP000695.2 promotes cell growth and migration of LUAD. The relationship betwee...

Clinical utility of inflammatory and nutritious index as therapeutic prediction of nivolumab plus ipilimumab in advanced NSCLC
CONCLUSION: The NLR, PLR, SII, PNI, ALI, and GPS were significantly associated with the outcome of Nivo-Ipi treatment in patients with NSCLC. The PNI was the most suitable marker regardless of histological type. The SII and PNI were the most promising markers for patients with and without PD-L1 expression, respectively.PMID:37725914 | DOI:10.1159/000534169
