Prognostic factors of long-term survival to guide selection of asymptomatic patients for carotid endarterectomy.
CONCLUSIONS: The presence of one or more prognostic factors as well as the various risk prediction models can guide selection of ACS patient subgroups for which a prophylactic CEA should or should not be offered. Decisions to offer prophylactic CEA should weigh in factors like surgeon's experience and hospital expertise/volume. Asymptomatic patients not expected to live long enough to benefit from the procedure should not be considered for CEA, but should be offered best medical treatment.

In ‐hospital ventricular arrhythmia in heart failure patients: 7 year follow‐up of the multi‐centric HEARTS registry
ConclusionsLower mean age of VA complicated HF patients is a matter of concern in the Saudi population. HF associated with VA increased in ‐hospital events and all‐cause mortality indicating poor prognosis and survival. These findings enable risk stratification and reflect on the importance of early recognition of the clinical markers and predictors of VA prompting immediate management.

Long-Term Single Centre Outcomes of Patients with Chronic Renal Dialysis Undergoing Cardiac Surgery
CONCLUSIONSCardiac surgery in DD-CRF patients is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Interestingly, overall mortality was mainly none cardiac-related, where elderly patients or those presented with CHF had the worst life expectancy. However, subsequent kidney transplantation positively impact long-term survival in such patients.

Mechanisms of Stroke in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease.
Abstract
BACKGROUND: Given the increasing worldwide prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), it is critical to decrease the associated risk of debilitating vascular complications, including stroke, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction, and peripheral vascular disease. Treatment options for reducing the risk of all subtypes of stroke in patients with CKD remain limited. For patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), novel applications of noninvasive imaging may help personalize the type of dialysis and dialysis prescription for patients at high-risk.

ConclusionMediacalcosis is a severe complication since it increases the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in hemodialysis patients, to this end, the individualization of entangled factors involved in its pathophysiology, will slow down or prevent its progression in the future.

Cardiac complications in children with chronic renal: Prevalence of risk factors
ConclusionCardiovascular complications are almost constant in hemodialysis children with chronic renal failure strongly related with left ventricular hypertrophy and arterial hypertension. The high risk of mortality related to these cardiac complications makes it essential to have good control of arterial blood pressure and especially a good observance of treatment and regimen in hemodialysis children.

Etiology and Outcomes of Thrombotic Microangiopathies.
CONCLUSIONS: Secondary thrombotic microangiopathies represent the majority of thrombotic microangiopathies. Multiple thrombotic microangiopathies causes are present in one half of secondary thrombotic microangiopathies. The risks of dialysis, neurologic and cardiac complications, and death vary by the cause of thrombotic microangiopathies.

Treatment of Anemia With Darbepoetin Prior to Dialysis Initiation and Clinical Outcomes: Analyses From the Trial to Reduce Cardiovascular Events With Aranesp Therapy (TREAT)
ConclusionsDespite initiating dialysis therapy with a higher hemoglobin level, prior treatment with darbepoetin was not associated with a reduction in mortality, myocardial infarction, or heart failure in the first 180 days, but a higher frequency of stroke was observed. In the absence of more definitive data, this may inform decisions regarding the use of erythropoiesis-stimulating agents to treat mild to moderate anemia in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease nearing dialysis therapy initiation.
