Ischaemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation with chronic kidney disease undergoing peritoneal dialysis
Conclusion In CKD patients on PD with AF, who had similar ischaemic stroke risk as non-CKD counterparts, warfarin therapy is associated with reduction in risk of ischaemic stroke without a higher risk of ICH.

Vitamin K antagonists for stroke prevention in hemodialysis patients with atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion Our meta-analysis revealed a trend for a reduction of the risk of ischemic stroke in hemodialysis patients with AF treated with VKA. The true protective effect may have been underestimated, owing to inclusion of low-risk patients not expected to benefit from anticoagulation and to suboptimal anticoagulation. However, assessment of the overall effect of VKA in hemodialysis patients should also take into account the increased risk of bleeding, in particular of hemorrhagic stroke. Whether new oral anticoagulants provide a better benefit–risk ratio in hemodialysis patients should be the subject of future trials.

The Impact of Acute Kidney Injury on the Long-term Risk of Stroke Kidney in Cardiovascular Disease
Conclusions The patients who recovered from AKI had a higher incidence of developing incident stroke and mortality than the patients without AKI, and the impact was similar to diabetes. Our results suggest that a public health initiative is needed to enhance postdischarge follow-up of renal function and to control the subsequent incidence of stroke among patients who recover from AKI after dialysis.

Warfarin and the risk of stroke and bleeding in patients with atrial fibrillation receiving dialysis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion Observational studies suggest that warfarin was not associated with a clear benefit or harm among patients who have atrial fibrillation and are receiving dialysis. These estimates were limited by study heterogeneity including the inability to account for a number of important confounders such as the time in the therapeutic range. Risk of stroke and bleeding in patients with heart failure and chronic kidney disease: a nationwide cohort study
ConclusionsCompared with patients without CKD, among incident heart failure patients without atrial fibrillation, CKD both with and without dialysis was associated with a higher rate of major bleeding and all‐cause death. Only CKD‐no RRT was associated with a higher rate of ischaemic stroke and intracranial bleeding.

Difficulty of stroke management in the dialysis child
ConclusionCause or consequences of the renal disease, HT must be properly treated in order to reach the recommended targeted blood pressure values. Difference in stroke incidence between Korean and Japanese patients initiating dialysis — era or ethnic effect?
We thank Tomoyuki Kawada for the letter in response to our recent article [1]. First, we would like to focus on the differences in epidemiologic characteristics of stroke between our study population and those enrolled in a previous study conducted in Japan [2]. Effect of antithrombotic and antiplatelet agents for ischemic stroke in atrial fibrillation patients with dialysis
With great interest, we read Chen et al. study about antithrombotic agents in patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) and atrial fibrillation (AF) [1]. The authors found that anti-platelet or warfarin treatment could not lower the risk of ischemic stroke in patients with ESRD. We have some concerns about this study.

Meta-Analysis of Anticoagulation Use, Stroke, Thromboembolism, Bleeding and Mortality in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation on Dialysis
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is common in patients on dialysis. While randomized trials of anticoagulation for AF have demonstrated striking reductions in stroke, these trials did not recruit dialysis patients. We thus undertook this systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies. Electronic databases were searched for studies including AF patients on dialysis that reported observational associations of anticoagulation use. Twenty-one studies involving 530,031 individuals and 31,611 AF patients on dialysis were identified.
