Role of dyslipidemia in ischemic stroke patients treated in the telestroke network
CONCLUSION: Demographic and clinical risk factors among the dysplipidemic ischemic stroke population in the telestroke network were not associated with worsening neurologic functions.PMID:33940526 | DOI:10.1016/j.advms.2021.04.003

Exploring stroke risk and prevention in China: insights from an outlier
Aging (Albany NY). 2021 Jun 4;13(undefined). doi: 10.18632/aging.203096. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIn contrast to the declining trend in most regions worldwide, the incidence of stroke is increasing in China and is leading to an alarming burden for the national healthcare system. In this review, we have generated new insights from this outlier, and we aim to provide new information that will help decrease the global stroke burden, especially in China and other regions sharing similar problems with China. First of all, several unsolved aspects fundamentally accounting for this discrepancy were promising, including the s...

Image-based patient-specific flow simulations are consistent with stroke in pediatric cerebrovascular disease
Biomech Model Mechanobiol. 2021 Jul 20. doi: 10.1007/s10237-021-01495-9. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMoyamoya disease (MMD) is characterized by narrowing of the distal internal carotid artery and the circle of Willis (CoW) and leads to recurring ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. A retrospective review of data from 50 pediatric MMD patients revealed that among the 24 who had a unilateral stroke and were surgically treated, 11 (45.8%) had a subsequent, contralateral stroke. There is no reliable way to predict these events. After a pilot study in Acta-/- mice that have features of MMD, we hypothesized that local hemodynamics...

Prehospital Notification Using a Mobile Application Can Improve Regional Stroke Care System in a Metropolitan Area
CONCLUSION: The FASTroke app is an easy and useful tool for prenotification as a regional stroke care system in the metropolitan area, leading to reduced transport and acute ischemic stroke management time and more reperfusion treatment. The effect was more significant when the preregistration was performed jointly.PMID:34904406 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2021.36.e327
