Influence of Sex on Stroke Prognosis: A Demographic, Clinical, and Molecular Analysis
Conclusion Our data suggest that women who suffer from IS present with a poorer functional outcome than men at 3-months, regardless of other preclinical and clinical factors during the acute phase. These relationships seem to be mediated by atrial dysfunction and inflammation. The inflammatory response is slightly higher in women; however, there are no sex differences in their functional behavior. Conclusion: There is a wide heterogeneity of postoperative cerebral hemodynamic findings among TBI patients who underwent DC, including hemodynamic heterogeneity between their cerebral hemispheres. Efficacy of a dynamic orthosis on the upper limbs in the chronic phase of strokes. A longitudinal study.

Early Palliative Care Consultation Decreases Length of Stay in Severe Stroke Patients (P1.211)
Conclusions:Early PCC in severe stroke patients decreased hospital LOS by 3 days. This may be due to prompt clarification of goals of care and hastened discharge to hospice. Advanced age, poor pre-stroke functional status, and severe post-stroke deficits and disability warrant early PCC. In addition to decreasing LOS, further study is needed to determine whether early PCC also limits futile tests, procedures, and iatrogenic complications. Early Improvement in NIH Stoke Scale during Inter-hospital Transfer is Common and is Associated with Lower In-hospital Mortality (P3.044)
Conclusions:Early improvement in stroke severity during interhospital transfer is common, and is not confined to patients receiving thrombolysis. These early improvement patients have very low mortality, and it is substantially lower than in those without early improvement, despite higher initial NIHSS. This has important implications for assessing the safety and efficacy of drip and ship thrombolysis or other pre-transfer interventions. Arterial Tortuosity: An Imaging Biomarker of Childhood Stroke Pathogenesis? Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In children with dissection and transient cerebral arteriopathy, cerebral arteries demonstrate increased tortuosity. Quantified arterial tortuosity may represent a clinically relevant imaging biomarker of vascular biology in pediatric stroke.

Safety and Efficacy of IV-tPA Use in Patients 80 Years and Older- A Retrospective Review (P2.305)
Conclusion—We observed no increase in sICH post IV-tPA in patients 80+ when compared to those younger. Higher mortality in those 80+ likely due to baseline disabilities. GPER expressed on microglia mediates the anti‐inflammatory effect of estradiol in ischemic stroke
ConclusionsOur studies have suggested that GPER expressed on microglia mediated the anti‐inflammatory effect of estradiol after ischemic stroke. Our studies could potentially help to develop more specific drugs to manage inflammation postischemic stroke. GPER was highly expressed in activated microglia after ischemia and estradiol. The specific GPER agonist G1 could inhibit the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines including IL‐1β and TNF‐α, which the anti‐inflammatory effect of G1 and E2 were both abolished by the specific GPER antagonist G15.
