Standard procedures in nonoperating room anesthesia
This article provides an overview of standard procedures currently performed in nonoperating room anesthesia (NORA) and highlights anesthetic implications. Recent findings Novel noninvasive interventional procedures remain on the rise, accelerating demand for anesthesia support outside the conventional operating room. The field of interventional oncology has introduced a variety of effective minimally invasive therapies making interventional radiology gain a major role in the management of cancer. Technical innovation brings newer ablative and embolotherapy techniques into practice. Flexible bronchoscopy has replaced ri...

Risk factors of diffuse alveolar hemorrhage after acute ischemic stroke treated with tissue-type plasminogen activator. The effectiveness of activated recombinant factor VII treatment.
Conclusion: The inclusion/exclusion criteria of tPA were based on the AHA/ASA Guidelines for the early management of patients with AIS.These patients had no evidence of infections, bronchoscopy, autoimmune diseases, HIV, and transplantations. Our study suggests that systemic administration of rFVIIa for DAH is effective. Emphysema may be a risk factor for the development of DAH following tPA. When we use tPA for emphysema patients, we must be careful about DAH enough. PMID: 32547816 [PubMed]

Cardio-Pulmonary Changes After Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction with Endobronchial One-Way Valves
ConclusionBronchoscopic valve treatment seemed to have positive effects on cardio-pulmonary hemodynamics, and these changes were correlated with reductions of lobar volume.

Bronchoscopic delivery of aminocaproic acid as a treatment for pulmonary bleeding: A case series
ConclusionsEndobronchial administration of ε-aminocaproic acid during bronchoscopy may be a safe and efficacious option in the treatment and prevention of pulmonary bleeding. Further studies are necessary to better define ε-aminocaproic acid's safety profile, optimal routes of administration, and comparative effectiveness to tranexamic acid.

Portable fibrobronchoscopic treatment for non-severe ischemic stroke-associated pneumonia patients with dysphagia: a pilot study.
CONCLUSION: Sputum suction and alveolar lavage with portable fibrobronchoscope can significantly improve the hypoxia and pulmonary infections, reduce the inflammatory response, and thus improve the prognosis, rendering suction and alveolar lavage with portable fibrobronchoscope as a safe and effective treatment for non-severe ischemic SAP patients with dysphagia. Effect evaluation on use of bedside fiber bronchoscope in treating stroke-associated pneumonia.
Conclusion The use of bedside fiber bronchoscope is beneficial in modifying the pulmonary ventilation and relieving systemic inflammatory response of patients with SAP, exhibiting a great value in clinical application. PMID: 29785872 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Lymphatic imaging and intervention in a pediatric population: Anesthetic considerations.
Abstract The recent adoption of an improved lymphatic access technique coupled with Dynamic Contrast-enhanced Magnetic Resonance Lymphangiography has introduced the ability to diagnose and treat severe lymphatic disorders unresponsive to other therapies. All pediatric patients presenting for lymphatic procedures require general anesthesia presenting challenges in managing highly morbid and comorbid conditions both from logistical as well as medical aspects. General anesthesia is used because of the procedural requirement for immobility to accurately place needles and catheters, treat pain secondary to contrast and...

Tracheostomy decannulation of patients with brain injury guided by flexible bronchoscope.
Conclusions: Safe patient care requires that various medical departments keep pace with the development of different specialities. To ensure early rehabilitation of patients with severe brain injury having tracheostomy, safe treatment and, if possible, decannulation should be performed. This procedure requires the involvement of a physician with bronchoscopy skills as well as the development of local protocols. Orv. Hetil., 2014, 155(28), 1108-1112. Transplants give Garden Plain man a second chance at life
Chris Simon’s bucket list wasn’t anything fancy. He simply wanted to be able to ride a bike again. Or take a swim. Or go camping with friends. “Stuff I used to do all the time,” Simon said. “And all of a sudden it was taken away.” Those once simple joys were stolen by cystic fibrosis, the same disease that claimed his younger sister Emily’s life in 2009. The Simon family on Sunday will join millions of others around the world in celebrating Easter, a day symbolizing new beginnings. The holiday will have special significance for Chris, 26, who has another chapter dawning in his life after a double-lung/liver t...

Right Hemispheric Acute Ischemic Stroke Secondary To Right Common Carotid Artery Free Floating Thrombus Due To Hypercoagulable State In An Otherwise Healthy 48-Year-Old Woman. (P6.263)
Conclusions: Due to the high association between malignancy and hypercoagulable state, further work up needs to be warranted in the evaluation of a patient with FFT. To our knowledge this is the first case report of symptomatic FFT treated with an oral direct factor-Xa inhibitor. Further randomized clinical trials are required to assess the best therapeutic approach of this condition.Disclosure: Dr. Orjuela has nothing to disclose. Dr. Gill has nothing to disclose. Stress cardiomyopathy following acute ischemic stroke during flexible bronchoscopy: a rare sequence of complications
We report three similar cases of cough-induced transdiaphragmatic intercostal hernia, highlighting the anatomic findings obtained with different imaging modalities (radiography, ultrasonography, CT, and magnetic resonance) in each of the cases.Hérnias intercostais transdiafragmáticas são eventos raros e são geralmente relacionadas a traumas abertos ou fechados, com risco de complicações. Relatamos três casos semelhantes, decorrentes de crises de tosse, destacando o aspecto das alterações anatômicas nos exames de imagem obtidos em cada situação (radiografia, ultrassonografia, TC e ressonância magnética)
