A case report of multiple cervical artery dissection after peripheral type facial palsy and use of steroids
Cervical artery dissection is one of the most important causes of ischemic stroke in young age patients. However, multiple cervical artery dissection simultaneously involving the anterior and posterior circula...

Vertebral Artery Dissection Masquerading as Concussion in an Adolescent
Conclusions Detailed history and thorough neurological examination in conjunction with appropriate imaging are necessary to distinguish between brainstem/cerebellar ischemia from vertebral artery dissection and concussion.

University education and cervical artery dissection
ConclusionWe observed a higher rate of university education in patients with CeAD compared with non-CeAD patients in our study population. University education was associated with favorable outcome in CeAD-patients. The mechanism behind this association remains unclear.

Familial aortic disease and a large duplication in chromosome 16p13.1
ConclusionsThe cosegregation of duplication 16p13.1 with the aortic phenotype in this family suggested a causal relationship between the duplication and aortic disease. Variants in known candidate genes were excluded as disease‐causing in this family, but cosegregating variants in other genes might modify the contribution of duplication 16p13.1 on aortic disease. A recurrent duplication of chromosome 16p13.1 was associated with aortic and cervical artery dissection. We explore the segregation of this duplication in a family with familial aortic disease.

Imaging of Spontaneous and Traumatic Cervical Artery Dissection
ConclusionNeuroradiologists should be aware that intimal flaps and multivessel dissections are more common after a traumatic etiology. In addition, it seems important to conduct a  CTA in a trauma setting, even if no cervical spine fracture is detected.

Yield of Computed Tomography (CT) Angiography in Patients with Acute Headache, Normal Neurological Examination, and Normal Non Contrast CT: A Meta-Analysis
Patients with acute severe headache, normal neurological examination, and a normal noncontrast head computed tomography (NCCT) may still have subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), cervical arterial dissection, or reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS). Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is used increasingly in the emergency department for evaluating this, but its added value remains controversial.

Perioperative complications in patients treated with posterior cervical fusion and bilateral cages
Conclusions: The results of our study show that PCF with cages can be considered a safe alternative for patients undergoing cervical spine surgery. The procedure has a favorable overall complication profile, short length of stay, and negligible blood loss.

Spontaneous cervical artery dissection is accompanied by a hypercoagulable state and simultaneous inflammatory condition
ConclusionWe found evidence for a hypercoagulable state in patients with sCAD as indicated by a shortened aPTT, which was associated with a trend to an increased leucocyte count at the same time. Our findings first strengthen the hypothesis that inflammation critically impacts on the occurrence of sCAD, and second linked this condition with a marked affection of the coagulation system.

Clinical and Imaging Characteristics of Arteriopathy Subtypes in Children with Arterial Ischemic Stroke: Results of the VIPS Study PEDIATRICS
CONCLUSIONS: Childhood arteriopathy subtypes have some typical features that aid diagnosis. Better imaging methods, including vessel wall imaging, are needed for improved classification of focal cerebral arteriopathy of childhood.

Anterior Circulation Acute Ischemic Stroke Associated with Atherosclerotic Lesions of the Cervical ICA: A Nosologic Entity Apart ADULT BRAIN
CONCLUSIONS: Our study suggests that atherothrombotic tandem occlusions represent a peculiar and different nosologic entity compared with dissection-related tandem occlusions. This challenging cause of acute ischemic stroke should be differentiated from other etiologies in patient management in future prospective studies.

Recanalization after Extracranial Dissection: Effect of Antiplatelet Compared with Anticoagulant Therapy
Cervical arterial dissection is a leading cause of stroke in young patients, yet optimal management remains controversial. Existing studies focusing on recurrent stroke were underpowered to demonstrate differences between antithrombotic strategies. Vessel recanalization is a more prevalent outcome and is potentially clinically important. We aimed to assess recanalization rates with anticoagulation compared with antiplatelet therapy.

Extracranial Cervical Artery Dissections.
Abstract Cervical artery dissections (CeAD) include both internal carotid and vertebral artery dissections. They are rare but important causes of stroke, especially in younger patients. CeAD should be considered in patients with strokelike symptoms, a new-onset headache and/or neck pain, and/or other risk factors. Early imaging with computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is key to making the diagnosis. Treatment may vary depending on the extent of the dissection, timing of the dissection, and other comorbidities. The overall prognosis is good, but does depend on the initial severity of sympto...
