A review of carotid and vertebral artery dissection
This article reviews the literature to provide practical information for clinicians to recognise key risk factors and features of history and examination which should raise suspicion of cervical artery dissection. Diagnosis can now be made using the non-invasive, commonly available modalities of computed tomography angiography or magnetic resonance angiography. Timely treatment with antithrombotic agents is recommended to reduce the rate of an ischaemic stroke.PMID:35506728 | DOI:10.12968/hmed.2021.0421

Critical analysis of the evaluation of postoperative dysphagia following an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion
CONCLUSION: Postoperative dysphagia risk increases in ACDF compared to ALDF, likely due to underlying anatomy. Postoperative dysphagia symptoms are not effectively documented by spine surgeons and as a result underevaluated by dysphagia specialists. Patients may benefit from more extensive pre- and post-operative screening, evaluation, and referral regarding dysphagia symptoms following ACDF.PMID:35427936 | DOI:10.1016/j.amjoto.2022.103466

Vertebral Artery Tortuosity and Morphometric Characteristics of Patients with Recurrent Cervical Artery Dissection
Cervical Artery Dissection is an important cause of stroke in the young. Data on incidence and associations of recurrence in patients with cervical artery dissection are lacking. Increased Vertebral Artery Tortuosity Index has been reported in patients with cervical artery dissection and associated with earlier age of arterial dissection in patients with connective tissue disease.

Disparities between guideline statements on acute and post-acute management of cervical artery dissection
Rev Cardiovasc Med. 2022 Jan 11;23(1):9. doi: 10.31083/j.rcm2301009.ABSTRACTEven though cervical artery dissection is one of the main reasons for ischemic stroke in young patients, acute management and post-acute primary or secondary prevention of cerebral ischemia differ significantly in different centers and countries. These discrepancies are reflected by the differences in guideline recommendations of major stroke societies. Our narrative review aims to shed light on the different recommendations in guideline-statements of stroke societies and to give an overview of the current literature concerning acute management and...
