Risk factors for cognitive impairment in patients with first-time ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: The study showed a high CI incidence in patients with preexisting ischemic stroke. Age ≥60 years old, history of diabetes mellitus, CRP >6.53 mg/L, Hcy >13.84 μmol/L, NIHSS score >4.37 score, VD <45.16 nmol/L are independent risk factors for CI in patients with first-time ischemic stroke.PMID:33841715 | PMC:PMC8014415

Perioperative Stroke and Thirty-Day Hospital Readmission After Cardiac Surgeries: State Inpatient Database Study
CONCLUSION: Baseline patient characteristics and perioperative complications are significant predictors of readmission. More than one in five patients who develop a stroke after cardiac surgery are readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of discharge.PMID:35211215 | PMC:PMC8827220 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr4647

A 3-Mbp fragment on rat chromosome 1 affects susceptibility both to stroke and kidney injury under salt loading in the stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rat: a genetic approach using multiple congenic strains
Exp Anim. 2022 Mar 29. doi: 10.1538/expanim.21-0189. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe have previously reported that a major quantitative trait locus (QTL) responsible for susceptibility to salt-induced stroke in the stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHRSP) is located in a 3-Mbp region on chromosome 1 covered by SHRSP.SHR-(D1Rat23-D1Rat213)/Izm (termed Pr1.31), a congenic strain with segments from SHRSP/Izm introduced into the stroke-resistant SHR/Izm. Here, we attempted to narrow down the candidate region on chromosome 1 further through analyses of subcongenic strains constructed for the target region. Simultane...
