Analysis of psychiatric consultations in the department of neurology and stroke unit: diagnosis and therapy
CONCLUSIONS: Patients in the department of neurology and stroke unit underwent a psychiatric consultation most frequently. Optimizing the care of aneurological patient is related to close cooperation of a neurologist and a psychiatrist, as well as developing and updating common positions for the management of selected disease entities.PMID:34997738 | DOI:10.12740/PP/OnlineFirst/116320

Metabolic Stroke: A Novel Presentation in a Child with Succinic Semialdehyde Dehydrogenase Deficiency
Sangeetha Yoganathan, Gautham Arunachal, Lisa Kratz, Mugil Varman, Maya Thomas, Sniya Valsa Sudhakar, Samuel Philip Oommen, Sumita DandaAnnals of Indian Academy of Neurology 2020 23(1):113-117 Succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase (SSADH) deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder of gamma-aminobutyric acid metabolism. Children with SSADH deficiency usually manifest with developmental delay, behavioral symptoms, language dysfunction, seizures, hypotonia, extrapyramidal symptoms, and ataxia. Diagnosis of SSADH deficiency is established by an abnormal urine organic acid pattern, including increased excretion of 4-hydroxybu...

Impact of Electronic Cigarette Vaping on Cerebral Ischemia: What We Know So Far
AbstractElectronic cigarettes (ECs) are battery-powered nicotine delivery devices that have rapidly gained popularity and attention globally. ECs work by heating a liquid to produce an aerosol that usually contains nicotine, flavoring compounds, and other chemicals, which are inhaled during vaping. EC aerosols are depicted to contain a lower number and overall quantity of harmful toxicants than conventional cigarettes (CCs). However, emerging research indicates that EC aerosols contain harmful ingredients including ultrafine particles, volatile organic compounds, and heavy metals. One common ingredient found in both CCs an...

Handheld two-stroke engines as an important source of personal VOC exposure for olive farm workers
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2022 Jun 14. doi: 10.1007/s11356-022-21378-5. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPersonal exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is mainly associated with indoor exposures; however, elevated short-term exposures may also occur during ambient activities. Handheld two-stroke gasoline-powered engines have widespread use in agriculture, but so far, no studies have been conducted on the potential health risks due to the inhalation of emitted VOCs. A one-week passive sampling has been conducted on olive farm workers during the harvesting season to monitor personal exposure levels to VOCs. The first ...

Fabrication of multifunctional metal –organic frameworks nanoparticles via layer-by-layer self-assembly to efficiently discover PSD95-nNOS uncouplers for stroke treatment
Disruption of the postsynaptic density protein-95 (PSD95) —neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) coupling is an effective way to treat ischemic stroke, however, it still faces some challenges, especially lack o...
