A Review on the Arylpiperazine Derivatives as Potential Therapeutics for the Treatment of Various Neurological Disorders
Curr Drug Targets. 2022 Jan 17. doi: 10.2174/1389450123666220117104038. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTNeurological disorders are disease conditions related to the neurons and central nervous system (CNS). Any kind of structural, electrical, biochemical and functional abnormalities in neurons can lead to various types of disorders like Alzheimer's disease (AD), depression, Parkinson's disease (PD), epilepsy, stroke, etc. Currently available medicines are symptomatic and do not treat the disease state. Thus, novel CNS active agents with the potential of complete treatment of an illness are highly desired. A range of small or...

Adverse Events Associated With Coprescription of Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors and Oral Organic Nitrates in Male Patients With Ischemic Heart Disease : A Case-Crossover Study
CONCLUSION: From 2000 to 2018, the use of PDE5 inhibitors increased 20-fold among Danish patients with IHD who were taking nitrates. A statistically significant association between concomitant use of these medications and cardiovascular adverse events could not be identified.PRIMARY FUNDING SOURCE: Ib Mogens Kristiansens Almene Fond and Helsefonden.PMID:35436155 | DOI:10.7326/M21-3445

Optical excitation of organic semiconductors as a highly selective strategy to induce vascular regeneration and tissue repair
We describe how photoexcitation of the conducting polymer poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl), also known as P3HT, stimulates extracellular Ca2+ entry through Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) channels upon the production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the cleft between the nanomaterial and the cell membrane. H2O2-induced TRPV1-dependent Ca2+ entry stimulates ECFC proliferation and tube formation, thereby providing the proof-of-concept that photoexcitation of organic semiconductors may offer a reliable strategy to stimulate ECFCs-dependent neovascularization in CVDs.PMID:35589009 | DOI:10.1016/j.vph.2022.106998

Association of Proximal Tubular Secretory Clearance with Long-Term Decline in Cognitive Function
Conclusions Lower kidney clearances of secreted solutes are associated with incident global cognitive decline in a prospective study of CKD, independent of eGFR. Further work is needed to determine the domains of cognition most affected by decreased secretory clearance and the mechanisms of these associations.
