Does early onset cataract increase the risk of ischemic stroke? A nationwide retrospective cohort study
This study was attempted to address the association between early onset cataract (EOC) and ischemic stroke. Using the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000, we established an EOC cohort and a comparison cohort by using 4-fold propensity score matching according to age, gender and comorbidities to detect the incidence of ischemic stroke. Dementia and death after stroke in older adults during a 10-year follow-up: Results from a competing risk model

The Impact of Nurse Staffing on In-Hospital Mortality of Stroke Patients in Korea.
CONCLUSION: Policies to educate sufficient numbers of nurses and retain them in the field are warranted, especially because medical-cost containment has become a dominant concern in most countries. Further studies are needed to understand the mechanisms and other protective roles of nurse staffing to ensure long-term health outcomes after hospital discharge.

Methotrexate might reduce ischemic stroke in patients with rheumatoid arthritis: a population ‐based retrospective cohort study
ConclusionsAt a dosage of > 0.5 defined daily dose, short‐term methotrexate might decrease ischemic stroke risk in RA patients, while hydroxychloroquine and sulfasalazine were neutral.

Effect of the asthma-chronic obstructive pulmonary disease syndrome on the stroke, Parkinson's disease, and dementia: a national cohort study.
Conclusions: The ACOS cohort had a higher risk of the neurodegenerative diseases. The lower dose of the inhaler corticosteroids with cumulative dose ≧0.13 gram have the less risk of stroke and dementia.

Monotherapy of aspirin or warfarin for prevention of ischemic stroke in low-risk atrial fibrillation: A Easter Asian population-based study.
CONCLUSIONS: Warfarin is suggested to be prescribed in preventing ischemic stroke for low-stroke-risk atrial fibrillation patients with hypertension and hyperlipidemia.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of mechanical thrombectomy plus tissue-type plasminogen activator compared with tissue-type plasminogen activator alone for acute ischemic stroke in France.
CONCLUSION: Although there is no universally accepted willingness-to-pay threshold in France, our analysis suggest that MT combined to IV-tPA can be considered a cost-effective treatment compared with IV-tPA alone.

Relationship of chronic rhinosinusitis with asthma, myocardial infarction, stroke, anxiety, and depression
ConclusionCRS is associated with an increased incidence of asthma, AMI, stroke, anxiety disorder, and depression. Therefore, we suggest that clinicians should monitor CRS patients carefully, and optimize management as a means to potentially decrease these other associated comorbid conditions.

Healthcare quality assessments: no guarantees of same outcomes for different socio-economic stroke patients
ConclusionsThere is a difference in mortality and healthcare performance according to socio-economic status in stroke patients in Korea. Efforts to improve equity are needed, including the development and monitoring of equality indicators and developing policies for healthcare equity.

Myocardial Infarction, Stroke, and All-Cause Mortality According to Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Level in the Elderly, a Nationwide Study
CONCLUSION: Among the elderly, lower LDL-C was associated with decreased risks of MI and stroke. Lower LDL-C achieved by statins in the elderly was associated with a decreased risk of all-cause death during follow-up, suggesting that LDL-C paradox for the premature death risk in the elderly should not be applied to statin users.
