Risk Factors Associated With the Presence of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The risk factors for UIAs differ by their location, compared with the control. Interestingly, the presence of coronary artery disease was protective against the presence of UIAs.

The relationship between dizziness and cervical artery stenosis
Dizziness is a common complaint in neurology departments. We sought to identify the relationship between dizziness and cervical artery stenosis, as assessed using cervical computed tomographic angiography. From 1 January 2012 to 20 April 2014, we prospectively and continuously collected the demographic characteristics, clinical data, and chief complaints of all hospitalized patients aged between 20 and 80 years who underwent computed tomographic angiography at our medical center. Altogether, 5796 hospitalized patients were enrolled in this study. After propensity-score matching, a matched cohort of 1139 patients in a dizzi...

Surgical outcomes following encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis in adult moyamoya disease associated with Type 2 diabetes.
CONCLUSIONS Encephaloduroarteriosynangiosis is an efficacious treatment for adult patients with MMD. Patients with T2DM could achieve better collateral circulation and clinical improvement following surgery. PMID: 26745491 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Ankle brachial index most important to identify polyvascular disease in patients with non-ST elevation or ST-elevation myocardial infarction.
CONCLUSIONS: PvD is underdiagnosed in patients suffering from MI, both NSTEMI and STEMI. ABI is a useful and simple measurement that appears predictive of widespread atherosclerosis in these patients. PMID: 26776925 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Prevalence of carotid artery stenosis in Chinese patients with angina pectoris.
CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of CAS was not rare in China when compared with that in western countries, and the presence of CAS was weakly correlated with the extent of CAD. Screening for CAS should be recommended in Chinese patients with CAD, especially in those with one or more CAS-associated risk factors. PMID: 26793351 [PubMed]

Risk Factors for Silent Lacunar Infarction in Patients with Transient Ischemic Attack.
CONCLUSIONS Age, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and carotid stenosis were independently associated with silent lacunar infarction in patients with TIA. PMID: 26864634 [PubMed - in process]

Simultaneous coronary and carotid revascularisation
Conclusion According to our experiences and results, the simultaneous performance of CEA and CABG in patients with severe coexisting carotid artery disease who require coronary revascularization has proved to be a safe and efficacious operative strategy in these high-risk patients.

Prognostic Value of Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography in Patients With Diabetes: A Meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS CTA in patients with diabetes allows for safely ruling out future events, and the detection of CAD could allow for the identification of high-risk patients in whom aggressive risk factor modification, medical surveillance, or elective revascularization could potentially improve survival.

Use of the Corus ® CAD Gene Expression Test for Assessment of Obstructive Coronary Artery Disease Likelihood in Symptomatic Non-Diabetic Patients
Conclusions The Corus CAD test has been extensively evaluated since it was first derived, including with two prospective multi-center trials. Given the scope of the deleterious effects of CAD and the considerable costs involved in diagnosing obstructive CAD, a blood test that can help in this determination is certainly valuable. The Corus CAD test promises to have an important role in this regard particularly if it continues to perform this well in larger, more diverse cohorts.

Epidemiological characteristics, management and early outcomes of acute coronary syndromes in Greece: The PHAETHON study.
CONCLUSIONS: The PHAETHON study provided valuable insights into the epidemiology, management and outcome of ACS patients in Greece. Management of ACS resembles the management observed in other European countries. However, several issues still to be addressed by public authorities for the timely and proper management of ACS.
