Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 3060: Arterial Thrombosis in Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukemia: Incidence and Risk Factors
Conclusions: Our study showed that patients with AML are at increased risk of ATE. The risk was increased in patients with cardiovascular comorbidities, previous thrombosis, adverse cytogenetic risk as well as BMI > 30.

Identifying patterns of neurocognitive dysfunction through direct comparison of children with leukemia, central nervous system tumors, and sickle cell disease
CONCLUSIONS: Use of a common metric to quantify the magnitude and type of neurocognitive dysfunction across at-risk groups of participants by disease shows that participants perform below age-expected norms in multiple domains and experience dysfunction differently than one another. Neuregulin-1/PI3K signaling effects on oligodendrocyte proliferation, remyelination and behaviors deficit in a male mouse model of ischemic stroke
In this study, we investigated the effect of neuregulin-1 (NRG1) on demyelination and neurological function in an ischemic stroke model, and further explored its neuroprotective mechanisms. Adult male ICR mice underwent photothrombotic ischemia surgery and were injected with NRG1 beginning 30 min after ischemia. ConclusionsUK firefighters suffer significant excess mortality from cancer and other diseases when compared with the general population. Preventative health monitoring and presumptive legislation are urgently required to protect UK firefighters ’ health.

Methotrexate-Induced Stroke-Like Encephalopathy: Beware the Stroke Mimic
We report a case of methotrexate (MTX)-induced stroke-like encephalopathy in an 18-year-old woman, with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, who developed a sudden neurological deficit mimicking a cerebrovascular event. Bain MRI showed hyperintensities on diffusion-weighted-imaging (DWI) with matching apparent diffusion coefficient hypointensities, which also represent the commonest MRI findings in acute cerebral infarction. Context: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a recognized adverse consequence associated with all Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitors used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL)/small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL); however, real-world time to discontinuation (TTD) and time to next treatment (TTNT) of CLL/SLL patients with a high baseline AF risk remain unknown. Objective: To describe TTNT and TTD for CLL/SLL patients who initiated a first-line (1L) or second-or-later-line (2L+) therapy with ibrutinib or other regimens, in all patients and for subsets of patients with high baseline risk of AF/AF-related events.

The Clinical Impact of Methotrexate-Induced Stroke-Like Neurotoxicity in Paediatric Departments: An Italian Multi-Centre Case-Series
ConclusionsSLS is a rare, well-characterized complication of MTX administration. Despite the small sample, we have been able to confirm some of the previous findings in literature. We also identified a linear correlation between age and severity of the disease, which could improve the future clinical management.

115 SMART: A rare syndrome with potentially devastating consequences
We report three cases with differing neurological presentations and outcomes.
A 57 year old female with previous cranial radiotherapy for a frontal astrocytoma treated 9 years earlier presented with a two week history of headache, aphasia and right sided hemiparesis. MRI Brain demon- strated new extensive left hemispheric enhancement with extensive effacement of the ipsilateral cerebral sulci. 40 days following her presentation she started to improve and is now in rehabilitation.

Transfusion thresholds for guiding red blood cell transfusion
CONCLUSIONS: Transfusion at a restrictive haemoglobin concentration decreased the proportion of people exposed to RBC transfusion by 41% across a broad range of clinical contexts. Across all trials, no evidence suggests that a restrictive transfusion strategy impacted 30-day mortality, mortality at other time points, or morbidity (i.e. cardiac events, myocardial infarction, stroke, pneumonia, thromboembolism, infection) compared with a liberal transfusion strategy.
