Long non-coding RNA RPL34-AS1 ameliorates oxygen –glucose deprivation-induced neuronal injury via modulating miR-223–3p/IGF1R axis
In this study, RPL34-AS1 expression was reduced in patients suffering from ischemic s troke. The overexpression of RPL34-AS1 reduced ischemic brain damage. However, the cell viability and glucose uptake were increased, and the apoptosis rate was decreased in the OGD/R-induced neurons. Further, miR-223-3p resulted in the decreased cell viability and glucose uptake and the increased ce ll apoptosis to cause ischemic brain damage. Besides, the neuroprotective effects of RPL34-AS1 on OGD/R injury were partly reversed by miR-223–3p. Mechanistically, lncRNA RPL34-AS1 could function as the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) of mi...

Usefulness of Triglyceride-glucose index for detecting prevalent atrial fibrillation in a type 2 diabetic population
CONCLUSION: Our data supported a linear and robust correlation between TyG and the prevalent AF in a diabetic population. Moreover, our results implicated the potential usefulness of TyG to refine the detection of prevalent AF in a diabetic population.PMID:36093727 | DOI:10.1080/00325481.2022.2124088

An Untargeted Lipidomics Study of Acute Ischemic Stroke with Hyperglycemia Based on Ultrahigh-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry
This study was to investigate the interrelationship between hyperglycemia and AIS and provided a reference for blood glucose management of AIS patients. The blood glucose level of AIS patients of the present study was controlled by insulin below 180 mg/dL (standard group) and between 80 and 130 mg/dL (management group). And the fasting venous blood samples were collected for determination of blood glucose level, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), peptide C, and basal insulin level. Furthermore, lipids of the blood samples were detected using metabolomics, so as to clarify the similarities and dif...

Acupuncture against the metabolic risk factors for stroke: A systematic review of systematic reviews
Conclusion: This review summarizes the available evidence and underpins findings of the acupuncture exhibited the therapeutic role in eliminating metabolic risk factors for stroke, including systolic blood pressure, weight loss, glycemic index and cholesterol. Acupuncture could have positive effects on a specific symptom, and the effects depend not only on intervention type but also on how and when the intervention is provided. And more prioritizing high-quality research in this field in the future is conducive to guiding clinical practice.

The Potential Role of Naringin and Naringenin as Nutraceuticals against Metabolic Syndrome
Endocr Metab Immune Disord Drug Targets. 2022 Aug 27. doi: 10.2174/1871530322666220827141203. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMetabolic syndrome, an increasing problem in western society, is a cluster of conditions which affects cardiovascular health, lipid and glucose management, increasing the risk of heart diseases, stroke and diabetes. Bioactive flavonoids are a great resource of compounds with proved anti-inflammatory activities. Naringin, a natural flavanone found in citrus fruits, and its aglycone have demonstrated to ameliorate obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance in animal models. The principal mechanisms b...

Post-stroke cognitive impairment and the risk of stroke recurrence and death in patients with insulin resistance
Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is associated with etiology, severity, and functional outcome of stroke. The risks of recurrent stroke and death in patients with PSCI and insulin resistance (IR) is unknown. The goal of this study was to determine whether global and domain-specific cognitive impairment after stroke in patients with IR was associated with recurrent stroke and death.

Nordic dietary patterns and cardiometabolic outcomes: a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies and randomised controlled trials
Conclusions/interpretationAdherence to Nordic dietary patterns is associated with generally small important reductions in the risk of major CVD outcomes and diabetes, which are supported by similar reductions in LDL-cholesterol and other intermediate cardiometabolic risk factors. The available evidence provides a generally good indication of the likely benefits of Nordic dietary patterns in people with or at risk for diabetes.RegistrationClinicalTrials.gov NCT04094194.FundingDiabetes and Nutrition Study Group of the EASD Clinical Practice.Graphical abstract
