Dental treatment procedures for periodontal disease and the subsequent risk of ischemic stroke: a retrospective population-based cohort study.
CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that periodontitis is a risk factor of ischemic stroke. Both dental scaling and intensive treatment for periodontal disease are associated with a lower risk of further ischemic stroke events. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Accelerated Risk of Premature Ischemic Stroke in 5-Year Survivors of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.
CONCLUSION: Not only was the stroke risk in NPC survivors higher than that in the general population, but the onset age was also 10 years earlier. Future survivorship care should include ischemic stroke as a late complication, for its proper prevention and management.

This study aimed to evaluate whether gray zone AF patients could benefit from reduced all-cause mortality under antithrombotic treatment. This was a longitudinal cohort study performed using data from claim forms submitted to the Taiwan Bureau of National Health Insurance from January 2000 to December 2011. Hormone therapy in postmenopausal women associated with risk of stroke and venous thromboembolism: a population-based cohort study in Taiwan
Conclusions:
In postmenopausal Taiwanese women, HT may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Although the women in our population receiving HT were near menopausal age, their risk of cardiovascular disease was still higher than in the non-HT group.
